My lastest art journal page - "I AM WORTHY"
Inspired by the Heart Your Art Campaign
on my friend Melissa's blog, a magickal meliss
Isn't it wonderful how when you have an issue that you are working with, the Universe brings you lessons and tools and experiences to help you do the "work" ?
My friend Melissa has a project called the "Heart Your Art Campaign"going on for the month of February on her blog. It is a great undertaking, with her own writings about how to get to the point where you really love your art, and love yourself for that matter, as well as interviews with other artists and ways for you to join in the conversation.
Melissa asked me to do an interview for her project but I had to decline as I have just enough on my plate right now and I am really working on balancing my own needs and my need to please or get recognition from outside. I am playing along though and encouraging Meissa to just go for it and see where the whole thing takes her. What are friends for if not to support one another, right ? ;)
The first day of the project, Melissa had a post about feeling our own "worthyness", and how to get there. She spoke about the importance of healing the past, letting go of those gremlin voices that have become a part of us over our lives, the ones that yell "You are not good enough!" .
Wanting to participate with Melissa, I created the journal page above. But of course, life had a deeper lesson for me, and sent me the journal exercise as just one of the tools I would use to really examine my own feelings of self-worth and my enemy, self-doubt this week.
I even ended up having a good cry over a long ago childhood memory, possibly the one that started the whole lifelong feeling that I wasn't good enough. Another little chunk of that big hurt healed and let go of !
It just blows me away that whatever inspiration and vehicle you need to move forward and to try and better yourself is always provided for you if you are open-minded and open-hearted enough to look around you ! Oh and then to pick up those tools and try them out, of course ! I guess that is why they call it "doing the work".
Anyway, I am just so grateful for my friends, in Blogland and in the Real world, for all the inspiration and wonderful support that they provide ! My life is fuller and richer in more ways than I could ever count because of those dear connections.
(Take a look at my side bar to see some other wonderful projects that some of my friends are sharing ! Maybe the tools and the lessons that you need are right there for you too !)
I love to read this, to see this beautiful art created by you. And to know that you have blown away another chunk of pain from the past. You are worthy. Very, very worthy!! ♥
ReplyDeleteI also love how you declined the offer of an interview...to know what you can and cannot do at any given time. That is being VERY good to yourself indeed!
this is a great layout! and that quote by Buddha is one of my absolute favorites! :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go, my friend! You are worthy indeed...after all, you are the queen! Seriously, this is such a strong post, and it's powerful indeed that you're able to let go of the need for outside recognition, and realize that right now you just need to take care of yourself. I am so very proud of you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece! And thanks so much for sharing! I bet you feel so light right now!!

Hi, Kim! What a terrific journal page! I love all the colors. And I especially love your use of white and black pens! Super quotes! :-)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Buddha quotes! Love the page. Brava!
ReplyDeleteYour photo looks like a distant image from the past, like a seer with the keys to the future. Beautiful heart, beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteoh, i love these colors kim... and the message. we really MUST get this.
ReplyDeletewalk on, Big Heart...
xo
I'm glad you said no...
ReplyDeletewe as women don't seem to say that often enough and you knew to do it in order to take care of you....
big hugs !
Thank you for the lovely comment on my interview! I'm so glad I found you; your blog is lovely and your journal pages are just inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteI ran across this quote by Buddha myself last week, Kim, because, like you, I'm doing the work every day! I've noticed that, for the last year, you and I seem to be traveling the same path. Mkaes you wonder, doesn't it, just how much we DO have in common? I'm just thankful to have a friend, as beautiful as you, who gets me. This is a lovely layout and speaks straight to my heart.
ReplyDeleteKIm,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful heartfelt page, I too admire you for turning down the interview. Its hard to say no sometimes and know our limits. I had to bow out of One world one heart this year. I knew it would be too much for me to do but still wish I were part of all the fun. Sometimes we need to do that for ourselves. We are better for it in the long run. Thanks for sharing...
Kate
Often, it's those who have been hurt in some way when they were younger, who have greater compassion for others in the here and now.
ReplyDeleteKim, you always spread handfuls of healing love all around, like star dust! Inevitably, it showers back down on you! Keep loving yourself, it's the best balm there ever was. And you are SO worth it!!

Kim, I love this! I could fall right out of be right now...I can't believe you're writing this just as I'm thinking about it...struggling with it and realizing how deep the unworthy feeling really go. I have recognized a need to please within myself and it's maddening! Man...it's amazing how this happens. I love you blog friend! You are a blessing :)
ReplyDeleteOh Pookie! How exquisite YOU are. I'm honored that my undertaking inspired your beauty to come out in this way, that you were able to heal a little more, and that, although you have so much going on, you are supporting me in the way that you can right now. YAY YOU! I truly appreciate it. Oh, I love you so much Kim! And how truly wonderful that my name is written on your gorgeous art! That's REALLY an honor. YAY ME!!! :) And you wrote such a kind (and true - blush) statement about moi. double :)
ReplyDeleteWe're getting there babe! Slowly but definitely SHIRLEY (don't call me Shirley).
I told that voice that we both said to F off. Ha!
I heart Me and You and both of our art!
~magickal squeezies just for wonderful amazing gorgeous talented supportive fabulous YOU~

Tu es la meilleure des meilleures du monde entier!!!
ReplyDeleteTa folle préférée!!!!
Gorgeous page (as always!) and I have to chime in with the everybody above and say how much I admire your strength in saying no. I had to do that myself this week and struggled with some of the same things you mention - all boils down to fear I think and, in the end, I believe we're stronger when we face the fear and choose to take care of ourselves in spite of it. Thank you Miss Kim!!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful; both the sentiment and the page itself! I've really been wanting to start an art journal, and seeing beautiful things like this inspire me to make it happen.
ReplyDeleteHappy Arting!
