A Royal Honor Bestowed Upon the Queen...

So a little while back I received a sweet email from a dear Blogland friend and extremely talented artist, Jane Royal (Painted Heart Studio). Jane asked me if I would mind if she took this picture of me which she had seen on the blog:

and used it as inspiration for one of her fabulous portraits.

I was very touched, honored and excited by the idea, needless to say !

Imagine my joy when she said that she would even like to send me the piece when it was done !

Then triple that and apply it to my feelings when I opened the special delivery envelope and found this :

(sorry about the so-so photos - it is pouring rain here today)

Isn't it beautiful ?

My first reaction when I saw it was "I only wish I was that beautiful!"

Then my second reaction was "Well, it really does look like me...so maybe I am..." ;)

Anyway, I am just thrilled and honored to have this piece in my home. David and I went looking for a good frame for it over the weekend (he loves it too, Jane !) and we will hang it in the living room which we are in the process of sprucing up.

Thank you, thank you , thank you, Jane, for sharing your art with me and for making me feel beautiful.

You can find more of Jane's wonderful art work on her blog, the Painted Heart Studio.

As I said above, it is a really rainy and grey day here today.

I am playing a little in the new journal.

But mostly feeling kind of grey and rainy myself...

Good tune for today...

Maybe I will brighten up tomorrow...

  1. Clapping my hands!! At Jane's amazing talent and at you -- saying you wished you looked this beautiful and then thinking, "well it does look like me so maybe I am"..trust me, you ARE!!!

Gorgeous start in the new journal...and rain. Yep, it's doing that here today too, but that's okay...good for the trees and flowers that are waiting to grow...a perfect day to just indulge in something for fun!! xo

  17. Aww ~ isn't it awesome when one of your art friends creates something with just you in mind and gives it to you? Sometimes we complain what a lousy, ugly world we live in and then someone like Jane comes along and blesses you, eh? Don't you just love having original art on your walls? I should do a post on my blog sometime about all the beautiful original artwork I've plastered my livingroom walls with. I love it!! Going to check out Jane's site now ~ thanks for the link, Kim.
    Cheers ~
    Dawn.

  32. You should write & illustrate children's books. Beautiful surrealist style & love your choice of colors. I'm 'journaling' now but it is our to-do book & appt. setter.
The painting really captures your eyes and the power & curiosity behind them so yes, you are beautiful. That's coming from a blogger who critiques about looks. I know it when I see it.
