My heart smiles gently.

Just look at how far I’ve come.

This path is so good.

Everyone seems in a rush to leave 2010 behind and embrace the New Year.

Well, I am not rushing.

The thing is that I haven’t completely celebrated what I have accomplished in this last year yet.

It feels kind of like I need a little limbo space in between where I can focus where I have arrived at in this very moment before I jump into the New Year and new words or plans or dreams…

I plan on spending this New Year’s Eve right where I am.

It is a good place.

I will catch up to 2011 eventually.

My friend Patti Digh says she asks herself two questions as the end of the year arrives.

1) What do I want to create in the new year?

and

2) What do I want or need to let go of ?

I am going to add a third one for myself.

3) What have I accomplished that needs to be celebrated ?

I figure I will give myself at least a month to find the answers to these questions.

January 2011 will be all about making friends with the new.

It looks like it will be the start of a really good friendship…

Wishing you the happiest of New Year’s, Beautiful Ones !

Big, big love to you !

  5. Hi Kim,

My husband Steve and I just celebrated our 35th anniversary in NYC on December 27th. I guess you and your husband are 2 other "crazy people" who got married in December. :>D Happy Anniversary. Thanks for your post. I have been thinking about my "One Little Word" for 2011 and had been thinking about "Celebrate" but was not totally convinced and then your post just confirmed it for me. When I saw your "celebrate everything" rock I knew that was the "sign" that I needed to make it official. I want to celebrate not only the "big things" in my life in 2011 but also the every day ones -- to make every day a celebration!

My art is in Patti Digh's 4 Word Self Help book (Page 40 -- the art for Take Just Enough Baggage). Just wanted to let you know that I'm a fellow artist. My husband and I were able to meet Patti in PA near Philly at one of her book readings. It was SO great to meet her!

Take care and Happy New Year,
    Barbara

PS Is there any chance I could buy a "celebrate everything!" rock from you or is it only available in one of your sets? No worries if it isn't available. Just thought I'd check!

  7. Kim,
I love your posts. I love the fact that you are always working on completing yourself and taking the time to do it. I also love that you are so entirely happy with who you are, where you are, and what you are doing. Happy New Year Darlin! I would love to spend the first part of my new year as you are doing. I think it is an excellent idea. Year in review. One cannot move forward without looking at what has been accomplished and truly acknowledging, savoring it.

I'm so glad you posted these words it seems they were written for me too! I feel like I need to take my time, pondering, evaluating, so as to know where I am right now and where I am heading!

This year has been a blessing in so many ways, meeting cheery individuals like yourself has made it all the more memorable.

  16. take two months if you want....really !
and even though 2010 had some very rocky moments for us as a family, i'm sad to see it go. 2011 just doesn't feel right on my tongue, yet.....twenty ten had a good sound, you know......

  17. I do like your third question! Even if it's been a difficult year (like mine was) there are things to celebrate! Like surviving and knowing that you are stronger than you thought before! Thank you for the reminder. :)

    Much love,
    Sharon

  18. What a perfect intention to aspire to...to BE. I visited Patti's post and saw your rock, and how you have inspired her.
You are one amazing, inspiring, beautiful, joy-seeking, beauty-creating person, my dear one. May this year treat you as you are treating it...with generosity and wide open arms.
    Love!

  19. I love and totally agree with this philosphy. Like the birds and animals cross the boerder, time and motion waits for no one. The date is just that, a number on the calendar.
In any event, thabnk you for being a blog friend and visiting my blog from time to time. I have appreciated it. I'll give you the same wish I might have given you in September, not just because it's January 1st, (or 2nd as I just returned home from being on the road yesterday), and that is:

    Peace, always

  22. Happy New year Kim! I think celebrating your achievements is a great thing to do. To me it takes a bit of digging to remember all I did but it is so worth it because forgetting is not as great as remembering and celebrating it! Let's do it!

Happy New Creative Year to you and yours!
