Thank God for Art !

IMG_6593

My love and I went to the beach to gather some Rock Fairy supplies on Sunday.

We found just the break that we needed from the busy work of getting home ready for winter in New England.

I discovered beautiful formations I had never seen or noticed before.

Like the rocks were putting on a show for me and my camera !

David had Monday off as he works for a bank and they were closed for Veteran’s Day.

We took advantage of the day to keep on working on projects around the house.

Gazebo taken down, painting projects before it is too cold to paint, plus the usual mundane tasks of laundry, garbage & recycling, cat litter boxes, etc…

Seems endless sometimes, doesn’t it ?

And then there is winter coming…

yikers.

Plus, my heart is feeling so bruised.

Battered and bruised by all the suffering, sadness, struggle and bad news in our world.

I am struggling to keep in a place of gratitude and focusing on what is good.

I saw this on Facebook this morning :

And it rung so true for me.

I am extra grateful for my cozy studio this morning,

with its riot of creative goodies to play with…

and for my time alone, to escape and be free of the world’s heaviness for a bit,

and to rock this precious day

to the best of my creative Artist Soul’s ability.

Make some art today, Beautiful Ones.

Big big love to you !

  1. You are spot on.......Art is a soul saver and a healer and an uplifter. I will create today, as every day, it is within us to do so.
What a lovely display the beach gave you, sculptures waiting for you.
You have me wanting to go collect some beach rocks and paint them now.
    Have a blissful day!

  7. Dear Kim, we got home from the coast to spend our days working outside too, getting ready for winter and raking huge piles of leaves. The changing seasons is sad for me too. I wish the autumn could last longer! Love your walk and collections, the beautiful formation in the side of the rock, like an abstract painting and your colorful studio. Take care...roxanne

  8. Not ready for winter but it sure was wintery today....yes, those chores do seem endless and take us away from what we really want to be doing. But it's good to spend time with your hubby just doing together. xox

  11. I was very down this morning and settled in for some real art therapy - as the day went on, I found creatures and faces in my splashes of paint - very much inspired by you and your lovely world you create in your art - so anyhow, I mentioned your grace and generosity in my post today. Hope your week is brightening - hugs, Kimmie

  12. I love seeing your two beautiful faces together and out on an art mission. Still a few things to do here - the deck table and umbrella are still out, our temperatures are supposed to warm a little in a few days and so I am waiting for that. The last week it has been so wretchedly cold that the leaves have finally given up and fallen off the trees. Now the raking beckons! But art is calling….
