Live in Choice – Art Journal Page – Feb.21, 2011
Golden acrylics, Twinkle H2O’s (Love them !!!) rubber stamped girl, rubber stamped letters, doodles with India Ink Pitt Pens and white Gel Pen. Collage pieces from blotter paper that has been covering my desk for about 6 months and some old dictionary pages torn up.
I won’t kid you.
This Winter/Blues/SAD/Depression crap is kind of kicking my butt right now.
I do have some really good days,
and even good moments in every bad day.
But man, it is tiring to be coming from a place of climbing up a lot of the time…
Still working hard though,
every day,
to be ok.
(making art helps !!!)
This is my theme song for February 2011.
Thanks, Ingrid.
I hope you are okay or better than okay, Lovely Ones !
Big Love !
Kim I am so sorry you are not feeling great. I think SAD effects a lot of people. I know when the sun shines I have better days. I am so glad you have your artwork because I always think how vibrant and colorful it is. this Feb has been a strange month for a lot of people. I hope you feel better real soon, Spring is around the corner ( I keep telling myself that, thats how I can Be Okay. hugs to you.,
ReplyDeleteYour pages are pure sunshine to me Kim! I hope Spring arrives soon and lightens your heart!
ReplyDeleteLiving in the rainy Pacific Northwest, I too am affected by SAD, Kim. I used to use a blue light SAD; now I find that blue light can potentially contribute to macular degeneration so I'm off it.
ReplyDeleteI feel that I must climb up from a deep valley in the morning up the steep side of a mountain. Then when I'm at the top, I either knock myself off (the usual) or someone else does it for me (much less frequent because I do a good job at knocking myself off).
Ah, well, with acceptance comes some peace, right, My Queen? I am sending a whole lot of hugs and Big Love your way tonight.
Peace and lovely queenly things, xoO
Cheer up buttercup....the colors on your journal pages make me smile. Spring is coming.

ReplyDeleteMany and profuse thanks for all you have done for us, Dear Internet Friends.Adorable! They make me smile! :D
You are indeed most super fantastic and will be missed!
Keep fighting the good fight, Kim. I know it's a tough time of year, but February is the shortest month. Beyond lies summer and the return of the light. Hurrah! Hang in there. Sending light and hugs.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend having a SAD light, Kim. Sitting under one for about 20 minutes in the morning ~ maybe while you're on the computer can make you feel so much better. They're also great for making your houseplants grow lovely during the darker months!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Dawn
PS Spring is on its way!!
Wonderful page. I love the flower on the right of your page. So cheery. We saw signs of spring today. The red wing blackbirds have returned. That lifted my heart so much to see them. We had sunshine today so my spirits were lifted for sure, but more snow is on the way. So I take the little signs I get and try to be comforted by them. Look for the light and you will be ok.
ReplyDeleteBig Love,
Kate

ReplyDeleteHi Kim! Hang in there sistah... longer sunnier days are coming! I love your Live in Choice Art Journal Page... nice! Art IS therapy.
ReplyDeleteIt's not always easy, but I have a quote that I love and try to live by. It's by Mark Twain... "Whoever is happy will make others happy, too." I made a button for it on my blog, feel free to take it off my photobucket. Surround yourself with happy people and don't hang around the negative ones, they only bring you down. Sometimes you just have to fake it and before you know it, you're living it. I know that SAD is a real clinical disorder and I'm not discounting that, I'm just spreading a little "happy" your way :)
I have a giveaway I'm calling "The Sisterhood of The Traveling Book" that you may find is fun, come on by and join in! Your artwork would fit right in :)
Happy Creating,
Jaime

Mommy:)
The winter blues have been awful this year... I'm so sorry :( but those pages? Gorgeous. And that song? One of my favorites to play when I need a pick me up, thank you for the reminder this morning. Me thinks you need a beach trip :)
ReplyDeleteThis has been such a dreary winter (the few days of promised thaw were a great respite) and it's hard not to let the dreariness into my soul. I like your journal page and love the phrase "live in choice."
ReplyDeleteLive in choice... be okay... I love your sweet songs. They make my soul smile. I know it's not easy sometimes, but please know that in my little world, you are creating sunshine with these amazing pieces. xoxos
ReplyDeleteKeep on making art if it helps (and if it don't help, make it anyway 'cause I love to see it LOL) Your page is gorgeous Kim! And golden acrylics??? Twinkle H2O???? Haven't the slightest idea what that is, but the colours are so bright! Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I *so* feel you on this. hate this sort of "churning" I keep feeling way down inside me, and I can't put my finger on what is CAUSING it, but its discomfort is constant.
ReplyDeleteI have ben listening to Ingrid Michaelson non-stop these past few days (REM, too) because she is speaking to me right now... so this page made me say "HEY, I am there, too!"
<3 <3 <3
I love Ingrid Michaelson. And that song in particular has helped me to deal with my depression (along with appropriate medication.)
ReplyDeleteI love the big flower on your page and the way you did the title. The little girl looks like she's in her own bubble.
Hugs,
Sophie
I hope some of my loving hugs coming your way can be used as rungs on your ladder as you climb outward and upward......xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteSending sunshine and hugs your way Miss Kim. Hang in there, spring will be here before we know it!!
