For the next 50 Days….

So in 50 days from now,

I will be 50.

50!!!!

How the hell did that happen ?

So quickly ?

Ok, I am a little freaked out about it.

Even though all my over 50 year old friends

(how did my friends become over 50 years old ???)

have told me that 50 is great, liberating, inspiring, the new 40, etc…

It still freaks me out that I am entering this new decade.

I’m working on accepting it and recognizing it is a thing to celebrate.

I also felt that I should think of a special way to ring in this new time in my life.

So in the spirit of focusing on what I want to see more of in my world,

I have decided to dedicate the next

50 days

to

50 Acts of Love, Compassion and Connection.

I have gathered a mental list of some things I want to do, and I have a new little gratitude journal all ready to record the acts.

Some will be small gestures, like leaving a Rock My World rock for someone to find.

Others may be a little more elaborate and push some of my boundaries and fears.

(More on those later in the 50 days…)

I will also try and record some of them here and share what happens when I make this intention.

I have a feeling that the circles of love, compassion and connection will ripple out beautifully !

I’m excited to see what comes my way as a result !

For my first conscious act of Love, Compassion and Connection,

I was inspired by my scheduled haircut today.

My hairdresser, Genesis, is a sweet heart and always makes me feel special and cared for when I visit her. She is an amazing artist with hair. She recently moved into a small apartment of her very own down by the bay. We spoke about her love for candles at my last visit so I made this little arty bundle of love and thanks for her:

Some clean burning beeswax candles, some special rocks, a string of white twinkle lights,

all tucked into a cool cigar box with a pretty fabric nest.

packaged up and

tied with a bow for my friend !

Can’t wait to see her smile !

I’m excited to share this 50 day journey with you, Beautiful Ones. If you have a suggestion for an act of Love, Compassion and Connection, please send it to me or leave it in a comment. And if you are inspired to join in the fun with committing acts of LC&C along with me, that would totally thrill me !!! Please share your stories with me. That would be a an awesome gift to receive !!!

Big love to you !

Lovely way to move on up to that next decade. If it makes you feel any better, and it's not 50 days but a few more months and I hit - yikes - 60....when the hell did that happen. But I don't feel much different than when I hit 50, so good times ahead. xox

Flipping my 51-year-old mermaid tail for you Kim... welcome to the club. I'm so glad I found you on the internet years ago (how many? Oh... 'old women smile and wisely keep their mouth shut about that...) I'm sure love, compassion and connection will float right back to you in the next 50 days and all the days after that. Keep on rockin' my dear!

That's a wonderful project! I hope it brings you more love, compassion and connection in return.

One thing I want to do, one day, is buy a few 5$ gift cards at McDonald's or Tim Hortons and then give them to homeless people.

Have fun!
Sophie

I'm excited for your new endeavor, My Queen.

I speak from experience: Your 50's can be the best decade ever. You have so much more wisdom and still have health, although in your 50's you begin to deal with limitations and loss. This is not a BAD thing, but a part of life, and a preparation for the years ahead. Receiving losses with gratitude and compassion is a part of aging...and you learn that it's all good. I have loved my 50's so far (I'm 58) and actually look forward to my 60's too. We have so many tools in our toolbox and so much spiritual wisdom that it's an advantage over the younger people who just don't know yet.

Anyway, I will eagerly watch your 50 Days and cheer you on! xoO

What?!?!? You're going to be 50? No way! I seriously thought you were much younger. 49 looks good on you, and 50 will too. I love that you're meeting the milestone head-on with positive intentions, sending out loving messages. That is powerful energy you are emitting and the ripple effect will be glorious. Raising a glass to you *clink* as you launch your 50 days, then join those of us in the half-century club.
*smooches and big squishy hugs*

You are always so thoughtful Kim. Love the beautiful package that you created for your friend and hair artist. Your 50 day journey leading up to your big milestone is a wonderful way to check in and celebrate along the way. I'm only a few years behind you and my perception of age has changed...hasn't it for you too? Like you said 50 is the new 40. Your journey will inspire others Kim as it always has.
