Share the Joy Thursday - Postcards from the edge…

''Come to the edge,'' He said. They said, ''We are afraid.'' ''Come to the edge,'' He said. They came. He pushed them... and they flew.

I am so loving making these little postcard pieces.

Collage from mailbox junk and old French dictionaries, Twinkle H2Os, acrylics, painting, India ink and dip pens…

Sometimes it takes me an hour to make just one.

That’s okay though.

An hour spent flying is never an hour wasted.

Put those wings to good use today, Lovely Ones.

Big Love !

Monday morning musings…

tdbsmall[1] FOR TODAY, Monday, March 28, 2011

Outside my window...bright sun, lots of wind, 26 degrees (-2 C).

I am thinking…that the Rock Fairy needs to go on a mission today. I am a little too stuck in my own head this morning, and getting out and giving always makes me feel better.

I am thankful for...my husband, David and the sweet times we share. He is my bestest friend, you know.

From the kitchen...cereal, banana and coffee…boring…

I am wearing...my pale purple Land’s End robe and my old green clogs…

I am creating...postcards for my DIY Postcard swap with Hanna from IHanna’s Creative Space. Fun to work on mini-pieces that are finished quickly. Some instant gratification is good.

I am going...to the post office to mail off a box of brand new socks. I have joined in Michelle Ward’s Socks for Japan project. Helping out others has to start somewhere, and socks have a special meaning for Michelle, so it because a natural place to put some of my loving energy….

I am reading...blogs, news on the internet and Facebook. I am between books right now…

I am hoping…that the weather warms up enough to take my socks off and put my damn winter coat away for good. Sick of it. Sorry for the whine….but I am seriously sick of the cold.

I am praying for…freedom from suffering for so many of us on this planet and the strength to take care of myself better.

I am hearing...the crazy cold wind whipping around outside, the hum of the computer motor…

Around the house...animals nap, laundry needs folding, dishwasher needs emptying, art table is clean and ready to go, but I may need some Advil to get rid of a headache before I am.

One of my favorite things... Bertucci’s oven baked pizza. We went yesterday at lunch and I had the thin, crispy crust with fresh asparagus, caramelized onions and Italian sausage. It was so yum ! Wish I had some leftovers for breakie.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Meditation Monday tonight, lunch with my friend Lois on Friday, and lots of art making and maybe a few naps in between.

Here are some pictures I am sharing

Haiku My Heart–The Queen’s Color

The color Purple

azzypurple

Mystic, royal, creative

purplepostcard

Brings pop to my life!

mepurple

So enjoying the Purple bursts in my life lately.

Did you know that it is often the favorite color of creatives and eccentrics, as well as teenage girls ?

Plus, it is the color of royalty, right ?

Makes sense that it is this kooky Queen’s # 1 then, right ? Winking smile

Happy Friday, Beautiful Ones !

I hope your day is full of some of your favorite things too !

Share the Joy Thursday–Gratitude in Being

DSC02431

All is well in my little corner of the world.

I am surrounded by Love.

And It radiates out of me.

DSC02429

I am full of creative juices waiting to be let free to flow.

DSC02424

I know I am not alone on this journey.

I have the love and support of those traveling with me.

DSC02433

And the guidance, love and experience of those who went before me as well.

DSC02434

While the Sun may not always be shining,

I know that there is a Light that is always present.

DSC02435

I love this Beautiful Life.

And I am grateful just to

DSC02432

My Dad would have been 70 years old today, if he hadn’t died 15 years ago.

This song reminds me of him probably more than any other song in the world.

He loved Neil Young.

I love the line :

“Old Man, look at my life. I’m a lot like you were.”

I see my Father in me. And I am grateful that he lives on in me.

This version of the song is so beautiful and pure. RIP, Daddy.

I hope that you find the many wonderful things that are right in your world today, Beautiful Ones.

Big Love !

Spend the Afternoon. You can’t take it with you.

I had a lovely time hanging out with a few friends art journaling yesterday afternoon.

DSC02418

This is the page I did.

I showed the Ladies a technique I learned way back when, from Bernie Berlin’s book Artist Trading Card Workshop: Create, Collect, Swap, where you paint a light coat of gesso over a magazine face, and then re-paint the features.

A great trick for those of us who have a hard time doing faces that look “human”.

DSC02421

The border piece at the top was a giftie from Marsha at Tumblefish Studio. She makes awesome collage sheets !!!

DSC02422

Her dress was a piece from an art magazine and her heart, a piece of my own painted papers.

I think I will probably add in some more pen work and maybe a bit of journaling but man, I love that Ultramarine Blue background color, achieved with Twinkling H2Os.

I felt privileged and grateful to have the whole afternoon to spend with lovely friends, making art, escaping the everyday troubles and stuff for a few hours, and having that loving, supportive surround to hang out in (Thank you, Patti !).

I think making time for those kinds of moments is really important to our well-being.

DSC02395

Speaking of well being, the cute Miss Chica-Girl is doing okay. She is on special “easy to digest” food for at least a few weeks in order to reset her messed-up gastro/intestinal system. She must have eaten something bad somewhere or something. We are not sure what caused the whole thing. But after a $200 dent in our pocketbooks, a few shots, the special food and some good old TLC, she kept all her food down last night and we all had a good night’s sleep for the first time in 5 days ! Let’s hope it continues this way…

Off to catch up with Mommy duties that should have been done on Monday but some how got put off until today. Bare cupboards, furry floors, and laundry piling up…

Hey, it’s all good. It’s spring, the sun is shining, the snow is mostly melted, chicken breasts are on sale…

Here’s to simple, everyday  graces !

Big love, Beautiful Ones !

Here’s to the first weekend of Spring 2011 !

Here are my top 6 photos from the lovely weekend we had in La Conception, Quebec for my beautiful nephew Tom’s birthday :

Kristina with the silly flower headband, doing her “bud” act.

DSC02375

Katie and David on the couch, smashing ants on the Ipod.

They were pretty inseparable all weekend.

DSC02404

The birthday boy himself, Thomas, age 8, up a tree, yo, yo !

DSC02369

And though it is blurry, I absolutely love this shot. Katie and David, sharing laughs, which was pretty much a constant sweet noise in the background of our weekend.

*****************************

It was a very nice time with lovely family. I am so grateful for the love, understanding and laughter that we share every time we are together.

The only down side to the weekend is that we are nursing a sick Chica-dog. She has been throwing up and having the runs since Friday off and on, especially during the night. I thought she was better yesterday when we kept her on a bland diet for a few days but the vomiting started again last night. Off to the vet later today to see what else we need to do to help her feel better.

This afternoon I am guiding another art journaling afternoon at my friend Patti’s house.  It will be good to get lost in the color and the process for a while.

I hope your Tuesday is full of sweet moments, Beautiful Ones.

Big Love.

Gathering of Hearts

All celebrating life’s gifts

Hold on to each other.

***************************************

I am off to gather with some hearts very dear to mine. And yes, a whole lot of celebrating life will be taking place. Not to mention candles, cake, and prezzies !

I am so grateful for this today.

It feels so right to soak in all of these precious moments somehow.

I hope you have a love-filled weekend, Beautiful Ones.

Share the Joy Thursday–Going Green…

DSC02355

Green is my favorite color !

DSC02356

All of these photos are of the green plants I have in my house.

DSC02359

During the winter, I find them especially wonderful.

I love that my windows have some green in them, so I can look past them out to the white and/or grey of the winter starkness. Together, we soak up whatever light we can until the days get longer and the sunlight gets stronger

DSC02360

Today is St. Patrick’s Day, and while I do not have a drop of Irish blood in me that I know of,

I love the fact that it is also a day to celebrate my very favorite color !

The fact that Spring arrives officially in three days (on my sweet Nephew Thomas’ birthday!), is also a thrill !

DSC02358

The promises of so much more glorious green to come !

I hope there is a lot of joyful green in your world today, Beautiful Ones.

Happy St. Patty’s Day !

Today is filled with errands.

Post office, Target, Art Store, Drugstore….

It is kind of snowing/freezing raining here but should warm up to rain soon.

I think I will load up my pockets with Rock My World rocks and leave some love about on my runs today.

Hope you find some ways to spread the LOVE too, Beautiful Ones.

Happy Wednesday !
