[t]he Blue Period (Spanish: Periodo Azul) of Picasso is the period between 1900 and 1904, when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors. These somber works, inspired by Spain but painted in Paris, are now some of his most popular works, although he had difficulty selling them at the time.
Looks like I am going through a Blue Period myself - perhaps "la Période Bleue" in honor of my French-Canadian side ?
(journal page - "Reflections")
Somber ? Kind of. The color matches my mood. Pretty blue, kind of sad, a little stuck. Okay, maybe a lot...
(journal Page - "Living Brave" - inspired by this kelly rae 's post )
Is it okay to wallow in the Blue-ness for awhile ? Emercing myself in the color is one thing that feels really soothing during right now. Not sure what else to do to shake them blues.
(journal page - blue, prepped and ready to go)
Will my Période Bleue last four years ? Don't know... So far it has been....
(journal page - Don't forget to breathe - for InspireMe Thurdsay "Breath" theme )
... four days. Does that make a "period" ?
Then again, I did do this piece for a thank you card yesterday :
(thank you card)
Maybe the end of the Blues is in sight ?
Happy Friday !

Happy Weekend! Didn't you get the memo? No blues allowed on weekends. =)
Nice artwork. Liked your "Don't forget to breathe". Sincerely, Connie
If this is your blue period, I would say you don't have anything to worry about. These are great!!!

"Blues" suck. I know them well.
But Hey you...just remember they are only temprary.Great release in your work though, be proud!
Seek out the song..."Tunnel" by Third Day.
Hey Kim,
Enjoy the blue and acknowledge it, but look at the other colours calling you too. I see you're doing that with the card.
And nothing lasts forever. Not even the blues.
Hope you weekend is full of every colour!!

Oh, yes, do acknowledge those blues. They deserve recognition, and if we don't give that recognition, I think they just continue to stick around. I have my "uglies" journal; that's where they go. Somtime's later I'll paint over them, but they're still there and part of that page.
Your art work is wonderful, as always. If you're still stuck after a bit, I will gladly come give your muse a kick in her pants, a thorough talking to, and get her on another path!
I like the blues... if not the mopes... then the color. It's the color of shadows, which you know can not exist without light. And sometimes we get something out of that rest period, atleast the perspective to enjoy the rest of the colors.
You make lovely things in blue, too... Your "breath" piece is beautiful and have a very soothing feel!
Love your musings :> Great journal pages, thanks for sharing!!
