I’m expecting an unexpected visit from this little hug bandit and his momma today !

It has been about a month since I have seen Jayden.

He turned six months this week.

Time is going so very quickly !

Look at him loving on the monkey I gave him, even in his sleep !

Makes my heart shine !

Can’t wait to smooch him !

These are some details of my 24 X 48” canvas that I am working of for my friend Suzanne.

I am thrilled that in the midst of all the chaos of packing, getting this house ready for renting, and planning our cross country move,

I still managed to get this piece to a place I am really excited about.

Hoping Suzy loves it too !

She arrives Sunday to help with some of our hundreds of little jobs that need doing before June,

and I hope to have

“My Garden is a work in progress” completed for her by then.

My white lilacs are in bloom and their scent is just heavenly !

I am glad we are moving after my favorite spring flowers have graced us with their presence.

Spring in New England is truly remarkable.

 

Focusing on the joys and the multitude of little things that are good sure helps keep you grounded in the present moment.

And believe me, I am very grateful for that during this busy, busy time.

Haiku My Heart–My Heart Space

We are still in full on preparation for the move to Florida.

It is a month away now !

Yikes !

We are renting our house here in NH.

It is a two family home so the upstairs portion is already rented.

Today we begin showing our part of the house to potential renters.

This has been our well-loved home for ten years.

I want that to show and I am putting energy out there to attract a tenant who will feel love towards this property, like our great tenant upstairs does.

It feels like I am letting new people into my heart space.

Keeping myself protected in some ways but giving it my whole heart too !

My beautiful Mom, who always has a special place in my heart space, is on her way for a last weekend visit to the yellow house on Orange Street.

It was her birthday this week and Mother’s day weekend, so it will be all about celebrating her and pampering her.

So looking forward to it !

Rock Fairy, Rock Fairy, Where have you been ? And where are you going ?

Oh, Kimbo, where have you been ?

I haven’t been blogging very much since 2014 was rung in.

That is because the beginning of the year was taken up spending a lot of time with this little Monkey.

Helping his Momma, my niece Amanda, out with caring for him, watching him grow every day,

and falling madly, and completely in love with him.

Jayden and his mom have moved on to another home now,

but our time together was one of the most precious life experiences I have ever had.

Love you guys !

Spring is finally, finally, slowly arriving here in New Hampshire.

The wearing of the parka is being let go in favor of the lighter coat and pretty scarves,

and best of all, the snow has melted enough to allow the Chucks to reappear !!!

Creatively, I have been focused in stitch love,

making these little stitched pillows for a swap with my amazing friend Deb Taylor, and a bunch of other stitch happy artists.

We each had to make 16 pillows in a shabby chic style.

These are some of my favs in my batch.

That was a whole lot of stitch love in lots of little packages !

Other than my swap contributions,

my creative time has been kind of limited of another important reason.

The Queen of Arts Studio and the Rock Fairy are on the move !

Along with everything we are keeping from the yellow house on Orange Street!

David and I and our furry babies are purging and packing up to move

way down south

to Tampa, Florida !

Yes, Beautiful Ones, the Rock Fairy has just lived through the last New England winter she will see for a good long while!

David has been transferred to the Tampa offices of the company he works for,

and in June, we are off to start a whole new life

in sunny and warm Florida !

Of course, we are very excited, though we are going through the huge stresses of packing up and arranging things here in NH, finding a new home in the Tampa area from a long distance away, and dealing with the details of getting all of our belongings moved about a 1000 miles away.

The other hard part is leaving my family and friends in Montreal really far behind.

It will mean less frequent trips north to spend time with them, but hopefully longer and special times together in the Sunshine State to make up for it!

So time for blogging may be still kind of scarce until we get settled in our new home down south. I look forward to reconnecting and diving back in from there, and sharing my new arty adventures from tropical locales !

Springing forward...

I am feeling the pull of spring.

Renewal, rebirth, changes, big ones...

But the momentum feels good and right.

When I am not spending time loving on this little monkey loving 4 month old,

I am decluttering, streamlining, making space for the new.

I haven't been creating nearly as much as I would like to, but I joined in this awesome Stitch and Swap project with my bud, Deb Taylor. (http://diddebdoit.blogspot.com/)

I really got started last night, listening to tunes and hanging out with my fabric bits and thread.

And this morning, at 9:30 that feels like 8:30, I hurried back to the studio for Sunday morning sunlight stitching!

The birds are singing that "it's almost time" song out there. 

Let's joyfully spring forward, beautiful Ones!

Semi- Wordless Wednesday–Inside and Out

The warmer spring weather is returning today after a few days of real chill.

That makes the girl a lot less grumpy.

Been working through a week where things felt choppy and lacking flow.

But as I look at what was created in the midst of that,

I’m seeing juiciness inside and out…

It’s all good, as they say.

From today’s Joy List :

Having this day to stop and smell the tulips, as it were…

All that is on the agenda is some laundry and a whole lot of time in the studio,

cleaning up and reconnecting with my art stuff.

The weather on this fine Thursday is playing along perfectly.

Spring time grey with gentle moistening rain…

The kind that makes the earth and all its inhabitants sigh with delight…

The scents wafting on the air are intoxicatingly sweet.

All is poised for a very fine day for this joyful Artist Girl.

Springing back…

Hello there, Beautiful Ones !

I have been away quite awhile !

I spent some marvelous time with my lovely Magic Maker friend, Elizabeth,

tea time,

lake views,

and as always, creative time, savoring the gifts of nature and our imaginations…

Then there was a sweet weekend celebrating my beautiful Mom !

It was a special birthday celebration this year and I am so grateful that she was surrounded with such glowing love by her favorite peeps !

Now, back here at home, spring finally truly sprung !

This luscious bouquet is from my own gardens.

Even the lilacs have joined in the flower song this morning !

Happy and I are breathing it all in !

I am full of inspiration and brave new energy, just like every blossom and bursting leaf.

Feels good and I am grateful that I took some time for me to recharge and energize.

Today it is supposed to reach 80 degrees in Manchester !

I think a visit to the beach with an umbrella, chair and some rocks to paint may be in order this afternoon.

The rest of the week is supposed to bring some very much needed rain so I will happily head back into the studio then.
