Saving it for a rainy day ?

So yesterday was a rainy day.

A wet, humid, grey, dismal, sticky, icky, yucky day outside.

A kind of lonely, "I don't have any playmates", "oh poor me", first day of my period, day on the inside.

The silver lining on my rainy, rainy grey cloud ?

My paints and toys and my inner Queen of Arts were ready to play, as always.

I am so very, very grateful for that !

Here's what we made :

"I'm Just A Lonely Girl" - art journal page, June 19, 2009

( done in my art journal, a 9 X 12" Mixed Media sketchbook with watercolor paper in it, bought at Barnes and Noble, hand cut leaf stamp, Indian Ink drawing, Lumiere Metallic paint sheen)

And this one :

"Out of the Darkness" - art journal page, June 19, 2009

- body from Oprah mag photo, head from Anatomy Book Images found on Flickr, butterflies from wrapping paper, Maya Angelou quote

The sun is kind of out this morning. A reprieve before the rain returns for another few days later today, apparently.

That's okay.

I have been saving it up for some rainy days, it would seem.

Have a great weekend.

Beautiful pages! My computer is being weird so I can only see the first and the last, but I love them. The last about the butterfly is so right where I am so I needed to read and see it.

I certainly missed visiting you this week.. So glad to be back :)

How crazy that we must have been posting to each other at the same time! I'm glad you love your pouch and I love your words...maybe that's the answer to the tangliness...I'm tangled in the beliefs that I am broken and a mess...this requires some real aborption...I need to bask in it :)

I love both of the pages, but the second one really knocked my socks off (if I was wearing any)! Have a great weekend! Play!

Kim,

Oh I wish I lived close by I would come play with you any day. I have felt that way many days. I am glad to see such wonderful art burst out of you even on those rainy days.

the best part of any rainy day is the art that comes from it! I'll take the rain anytime =)

We are now at day three of rain. It was supposed to be nice today but...I do like the second one with the butterflies the best, I love humor in art and the expression on the face of the woman combined with the body made me smile. That sounds like a dandy journal. I only have ones with pages that are not very resistant, unless I gesso them first. Last night I listened to the Digh/Robinson Wednesday teleclass and was blown away. The four concepts of blocks spoke so much to me. And I've only scratched the surface with just one listen and one night to ruminate. This is very, very rich material. I'm hoping you are having a sunny Sunday. Now they say will will have the sun tomorrow, we'll see...

Hi Kim ~ I love your journals. Maybe someday we can connect and you can teach me a journaling trick or two? What type of paper do you use - just curious. Beautiful talent - let it rain down around you!
