Saying Yes…

I am not sure if it has been influenced by cabin fever,

the long, long, long winter,

or what,

but lately I have been saying “Yes.” to some new things.

IMG_4443

There is a lot of trust involved in some of these decisions and just a little faith in others, but it feels good to be expanding the box, and letting new opportunities to blossom in their own way.

Letting go of the need to know all the details and permutations ahead of time is new for me.

But somehow, I have really begun to know the lesson that things will fall into place as they will, whether you worry about them or not.

And that is a lesson I am happy to be putting into practice !

So one of the thing I have said “yes” to is participating in this amazing new project with Patti Digh.

When Patti asked me to participate in the Design Your Life Camp and offer a workshop,

I decided to say “Yes!”, in spite having no idea at first what kind of workshop I would offer, and how all the details of getting to Buford, Georgia in October 2013 will come together.

But allowing the positive creative energy that surrounds this event into my world was a no brainer, really ! I am so thrilled and excited to be a part of this amazing gathering of so many incredible people !

Maybe it is something you need to say “Yes!” to as well, and we can rock it together ? Check out all the details and the early bird registration deals here.

Today, I am saying yes to trying out a new project with a great teacher, Lynne Suprock.  Some of my Artsy friends met and worked with Lynne at Art is You in CT last fall and made friends with this talented artist. Lynne is here in NH now and we are going to be making soldered tiaras today, at my friend Patti’s house!!! Lucky Artsy Ladies !

And you know this Rock Fairy/Queen of Arts loves a tiara !!!

Oh, that reminds me of one of my very favorite scenes every on Big Bang Theory :

Hilarious !!!!

So is there anything you want to say “yes” to ?

I encourage you to take a chance and see what happens when you do.

And trust that the Universe is conspiring in your favor !

Happy Tuesday, Beautiful Ones !

The Cocoon is calling….

September ended with mums and time with Mommy…

and all the beauty that that entails.

Now that October has come, and the light is changing,

IMG_2919

(little art altars everywhere – dyed cashmere, silk, wool and other bits)

I can feel the cocoon beginning to call…

The need to go inside…

to create…

to explore inner landscapes…

and go where the Artist in me wants to go…

There is an inner glow that has begun…

and I am happy

to go with it…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While the call to go inward is hitting me, I still have some away from home adventures that I am excited about. Yay for October !
I am packing and getting ready for Art is You in Stamford, CT. I am heading there this weekend for some fun time with girlfriends and to take some great classes to jumpstart my creative time.
I will be taking a class with Pam Carriker called “Get the Lead Out”, and a two day class of intuitive painting with Tracy Verdugo called “Sacred Marks”.
I get home on my birthday (the 9th) and then will be heading up to Canada for the following weekend to visit the family and celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving a week late with my favorite peeps !
Like the caterpillar, I am fattening myself up with good social time and lots of soul food, so that the season of the cocoon will be a cozy one !
Happy October, Beautiful Ones !
Big light and love to you in this dimming time.
Missed you guys !
But I needed the time to just be.
Be with all of it.
Be in the moment.
Be Me.
The thing I came away with the most after my time away was how precious each moment is.
And how comforting returning to the present moment can be.
Be in this moment.
Love it, live it.
Haiku My Heart - Want
DSC039561
What do I want ? I
Want breath, nourishment, shelter,
love, sunshine, kindness…
DSC039562
I want purpose, art,
You, your arms, laughter. In truth,
I want for nothing.
DSC039563
(This haiku and art journal page were inspired by my friend Elena, who asks some very fine questions.)
I am so grateful to be able to say that in this moment, I want for nothing.
I have everything I need to survive, to thrive, to live this precious life fully.
How amazing is that ?
Counting those blessings today…
Every day…
***********************
Off to an Artsy Friends sleepover tonight.
Maybe some art, definitely some dominos and margaritas !
Back home late tomorrow to batten down the hatches with my Love and our furry kids.
Go easy, Miss Irene…
Light and Love for your weekend, Beautiful Ones.
Spend the Afternoon. You can’t take it with you.
I had a lovely time hanging out with a few friends art journaling yesterday afternoon.
DSC02418
This is the page I did.
I showed the Ladies a technique I learned way back when, from Bernie Berlin’s book Artist Trading Card Workshop: Create, Collect, Swap, where you paint a light coat of gesso over a magazine face, and then re-paint the features.
A great trick for those of us who have a hard time doing faces that look “human”.
DSC02421
The border piece at the top was a giftie from Marsha at Tumblefish Studio. She makes awesome collage sheets !!!
DSC02422
Her dress was a piece from an art magazine and her heart, a piece of my own painted papers.
I think I will probably add in some more pen work and maybe a bit of journaling but man, I love that Ultramarine Blue background color, achieved with Twinkling H2Os.
I felt privileged and grateful to have the whole afternoon to spend with lovely friends, making art, escaping the everyday troubles and stuff for a few hours, and having that loving, supportive surround to hang out in (Thank you, Patti !).
I think making time for those kinds of moments is really important to our well-being.
Speaking of well being, the cute Miss Chica-Girl is doing okay. She is on special “easy to digest” food for at least a few weeks in order to reset her messed-up gastro/intestinal system. She must have eaten something bad somewhere or something. We are not sure what caused the whole thing. But after a $200 dent in our pocketbooks, a few shots, the special food and some good old TLC, she kept all her food down last night and we all had a good night’s sleep for the first time in 5 days ! Let’s hope it continues this way…
Off to catch up with Mommy duties that should have been done on Monday but some how got put off until today. Bare cupboards, furry floors, and laundry piling up…
Hey, it’s all good. It’s spring, the sun is shining, the snow is mostly melted, chicken breasts are on sale…
Here’s to simple, everyday  graces !
Big love, Beautiful Ones !
A Love Affair…
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me),
It's always our self we find in the sea.
I am back after a week with lovely friends at the sea side. Cape Cod in September is magical. While the friendship, art making, fine food eating and wine drinking were all so very lovely, what stays with me most is the sea…
I miss it today.
The waves, the winds, the sounds, the smells, the sights….
The me I am when I am by it.
I kind of always knew it but after a week of being able to put my feet on the shore whenever I wanted to, I know for sure.
Me and the sea…
Are meant to be…
The happiest of Sundays, Beautiful Ones!
