I’ll sit with you.

  Loving Florida in many ways.

But not so in love with all the creepy crawlies !

IMG_1572

Last week I swam in my friend Sherri’s pool with a Python.

Okay, I’m totally exaggerating!

It was just a 10” black snake with red and yellow lines on his head.

But he moved very fast and gave me heebie jeebies big time.

Now we have these locusts!

Okay, just mega grasshoppers, but they are the size of a little girl’s hand !

Thank God for screens !

Still, this Florida life is a sweet one.

I found this sweet quote on pinterest or facebook.

(sorry to the creator of this image – I was unable to retrace my steps.)

I just love it.

Can’t always see the bright side in some moments.

I love the idea of a friend just sitting by until the light returns.

Because it always does, doesn’t it ?

I think the quote may have been influencing my journal page today.

became a bit of a dark garden.

IMG_1576

The BEings look a little concerned or worried.

IMG_1577   But at least

IMG_1578

they have each other…

IMG_1579

to sit with until the light returns.

It feels really good to be playing in the journal right now.

There is an upcoming trip to Canada that will probably interrupt the newly re-established routine,

but in the not so mean time,

I’m enjoying the flow.

I hope you have creative flow and lots of peace this weekend, Beautiful Ones.

Big love !

The light through yonder window shines on Happy.

Finding my shiny…

It has been snowy and very grey since Sunday.

IMG_6929

Not the most cheerful weather for me.

I definitely feel the lack of light and how it effects my mood.

I am trying hard to use some of the tricks I know to keep me from sinking.

IMG_6931

One is painting with bright colors.

I am so in love with my new “Fruits of my Labor” piece.

(11X14” acrylic on canvas)

IMG_6935

I have to say that Golden Acrylics are such a joy to paint with when you need that vibrancy and saturation of color. Expensive yes, but they really are worth the money !

IMG_6936

I haven’t done any Christmas decorating yet.

David and I always travel for Christmas,

and sometimes,

the decorating seems like more work than pleasure.

Maybe my Christmasy mood will increase this weekend.

But I have started lighting my sweet twinkle lights in the living room, my studio and our bedroom every day.

That is a light that makes me smile.

Another thing that is really good for me is to focus on giving.

Getting out of my own head and sharing my gifts with others in a genuine, no expectations way.

I did that at meditation class this week.

I brought my rocks with me and offered each of the 10 or so people in the class

to reach into my bag and choose three or four rocks for themselves.

IMG_6942

The magic happened as always !

A couple of women were amazed,

and received just the message from the Universe that they needed

and I received loving hugs in return.

I am so grateful for those rocks and my Rock Fairy job.

IMG_6937IMG_6938IMG_6939IMG_6941

I am working on other little gifties to bring smiles to some others in my life as well.

All so good for keeping Kimbo in a shiny place.

Today is sunshiny, even if it is cold.

I promise myself to get this head out into the sun and soak in some of those rays.

I hope you find your shinies today too, Beautiful Ones !

Big winter time love !

Haiku May Heart–Filling up

IMG_6727

IMG_6729

Fill the inside up

With joy, love and gratitude.

I need to start from there.

IMG_6728

****************

Working really hard here to keep my insides filled with the good stuff.

This darkening season is always a challenge for me.

I have picked up my gratitude journal and placed it by the bed, so the last thing I do at night is write a few things I am grateful for that day.

I have re-dedicated myself to my meditation practice, with the help of Deepak Chopra and Oprah’s Desire and Destiny 21 Day Meditation.

Next steps include bundling myself up and getting outside everyday for some daylight, even as my body cringes at the idea of the cold right now.

And also working with cutting back on comfort foods and sugar and putting nourishing stuff inside this one vehicle I have to get me through life.

I think the one thing I really, really have to work on is having self-compassion.

Even if I was to do everything in my power to help myself with my seasonal depression symptoms, (in other words, be perfect ! Winking smile),

there will always be days when the dark over takes the light.

After about 30 years of this, I know that to be true for me.

I need to learn to give myself compassion on those days, especially.

And keep looking towards the light.

Fill your insides up with the good stuff, Beautiful Ones !

Happy Friday!

Holding in light…

Happy and I had a “I am sad” party last night.

IMG_5959

I had my own sadness…

mostly about some big hurts from a relationship with a friend.

I am sure, too, that I was picking up on the sadness of the mass consciousness,

with the chaos in the world and remembering the losses of 9/11.

IMG_5960

Whatever the cause, I was drawn to spending time just feeling those feelings of sadness and loss, rather than running from them or numbing them with some unhealthy balm like Moose Track ice cream.

I put on the mellow tunes,

IMG_5957

lit a candle,

and immersed myself in the creative flow of an art journal page.

IMG_5961

Hidden behind some of the collage papers on this page are some venting words,

getting the hurt out of my heart in a way that doesn’t hurt anyone else but that helps heal it in me.

IMG_5963

Art Journal Page – “I am fine.”, 9/10/13

Creating this page was cathartic.

And I think it is beautiful.

I am proud of myself for actually feeling it all.

And I am grateful to know these creative, healing tools to help me along the journey.

Today, I have the energy to hold myself, and my world in the light…

just as my brilliant friend, Terri St.Cloud of Bone Sigh Arts, and so many other brave and shiny hearts I know are doing.

Light and love, Beautiful Ones.

We are all in this together.

Counting my many, many blessings…

Sending prayers and love to people in Oklahoma,

and to all of those in need of them…

Holding my little light in the dark…

When it joins with yours, it shines even brighter…

Shine on, Beautiful Ones.
