Changing Myself Up a Little !

Just a fast post to say "ARRRRRRGHHHH !"

I miss you guys ! I don't have much time to visit. I feel like Blogland is going on without me and I can't possibly catch up...

Can you tell I am a little stressed ?

Busily trying to get things finished for the CRAFT FAIR !!!

Thank God, it will be done on Saturday at 5:00 pm.

I am excited about it but man, it is a lot of work !

David has been great helping me whenever he can, with putting labels on things, packaging things up, and pricing stuff, not to mention putting up with the edgy Queen ! ;)

I am down to the final designing of the layout of my table today. Display ! I am a bit of a loony when it comes to placing things just right. That is great when working in a zen garden but not so great when you have a few short days and a teeny tiny budget to put out all your wares on a 6 foot long table ! Oh well...deep breaths and my great deBroin eye for detail will save the day, I think.

Not only do I miss posting and visiting and commenting in Blogland, but I am missing playing in my art journal big time ! This morning I did a piece because I just HAD TO ! All this crafty stuff is fine to make a few bucks but my soul is an artist's soul and it needed to speak today !

The page started with a painted background to which I added this figure from a mask made with a "praying" lady from an ad in a magazine.

Added some pieces of painted papers for the triangles, a flower shaped rubber stamp, some pen work with white Elmers Pen pens and black Indian Ink with a dip pen, and here is what I ended up with...(click to enlarge)

"Pray can change your life." - art journal page
November 11, 2009

I love the quote from Sam Shoemaker, the Episcopalian priest who help found Alcoholic Anonymous.

I love the idea of prayer changing you inside and out rather than giving all the power to some Being outside of ourselves.

In my mind, we are children of God and we have the power to change things for ourselves and our world.

Through prayer...

and through Love, sweet Love...

Taking the time to do the journal page is like taking the time to pray for me. I will admit that this was some rushed praying today, but I feel better for having taken that time and also for taking the time to share it with my community of artist souls. :)

I think it has changed me just enough to get through all the little details of the day a little more calmly and peacefully...

I promise to catch up with you all asap, beautiful Ones !

Big Wednesday Love!

Whew...I feel the stress and the frenzy coming through this post!! It's always those last few days where the push is on and hate to say it, we put more pressure on ourselves (been there, done that!!!). You'll be happy with everything when it is over but remember to take the time to enjoy the experience on the day!!!

Love your journal page...great quote and I'm glad you made some time for you to pour out your need and passion...hopefully you'll feel more centred and balanced and ready to get those finishing touches done. I know it's going to be a huge success!!! ♥

Take a few deep breaths and consider yourself well hugged! You are going to be fine, my queen...I just know it. Now, this piece of art simply takes my breath away. Kim, it is beyond awesome. I hope you have even an inkling of how far you've grown, both as a woman and as an artist. And that quote..wow!

Eeeeeek! The craft fair is upon you! I am sure you will sell out your table before 5:00. But I can only imagine the work going into it. Luckily you have David to do some of the grunt work. Thanks for sharing the process of your journal page, I've always loved knowing those kinds of details. Yay for you putting your artist side front and center to do that too.

There was snow in La Conception?! Your sister must have been really surprised! On the subject of kids books I highly recommend Frank Glew (good Canadian author too!) and anything by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. My favorite of hers is called "Cookies", my son's favorite of hers is "The OK Book". They are all great, great great!

Funny! I said "aaaarrghhh" in my post today, too! Oh, I know that feeling of feeling like I'll never catch up. But let me remind you of what you so kindly reminded me... There's no need to "catch up." Just take it from this day, whatever day you're ready to have that be. I'm wishing you oodles of good wishes for the craft fair! You're so lucky you've got a David. (But then he's also lucky he's got a you.) Have a ball and sell lots and lots of stuff! And please take pics of your display to show us. I'd love to see how it's done! Oh, and that journal page you made - ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! I love that quote! You are so right, wise and gracious queen and rock fairy, about the power of prayer and LOVE. ~ Big, Big LOVE to you ~

Praying gives our feelings words and wings and is such an inherently hopeful act. It's one of my very favorite things to do. So, I'll say one for you, Queen of my Heart, and wish you every blessing and success at the Craft Fair.

Kim,
I hope you have a blast at the craft fair! I did one last year and yes, it is ALOT of work, but you'll be able to 'bask' as people walk up to your table and ooh & aahh at your lovely creations. If you took a pic of it I'm sure we'd love to see your setup . . . .

Give me a holler via e-mail, Kim, if you'd like any craft fair tips. I've been doing craft fairs for 8 years with my sister-in-law selling our jewelry (for six of them I did 10 fairs a year plus a full-time job commuting to NYC) and have lots of tips. My biggest tip: Be true to yourself and your vision and the rest will follow.

I know you're feeling the pressure, but you'll be great. I have every confidence in our queen!
