One line in the post really resonated with me - like a line of the sweetest poetry really. It just went to what I am feeling at the end of this Fall season, as the leaves are blowing off the trees and the branches are being struck bare, and changes are happening within and outside of me at a pace that I feel unprepared for.
And here are the results :
"Leaves of the Heart" - art journal page
October 31, 2009

(acrylic paints, Portfolio Water Soluble Oil Pastels, India Ink with dip pen)
These are the words that Connie wrote that touched me so much :
The leaves of my heart are changing. That is what I am feeling. That uncertainty, not bad and not good, just different,
that feeling that some things are ending and other things are beginning,
that desire to go inward yet knowing that that means letting go of some things...
The leaves are changing and falling away...
And I need to remember to be kind to myself
as I make my way through...
This beautiful heart deserves that.
(Thanks to Connie for the inspiration and for the permission to use her words here.)
Enjoy this Autumn Sunday, beautiful Ones !

Inner change is indeed a tricky time to navigate. It's scary and difficult to relax and allow the current to take you along. But I wish everyone undergoing this would do what you're doing--getting in touch with it, expressing it in your creative ways, and communicating about it with those who matter.
I love how Connie's words inspired you to create this beautiful page in your journal. I feel that sense of change; have felt it before; will feel it again...and the most important thing in that swirl of uncertainty and unknown is to be kind to yourself ♥
Beautiful page. Autumn has been for me, a time to let go of the past, snuggle up and get ready to learn more about myself and let it all go with the flow!
Huggles!!!
I love this post. Makes me feel good.
This page is a knock out..everything about it..I love how you are developing your illustrations and color palette, Kim!! xo
Happy November =)
Kim,
What beautiful images and sentiment too. I love the brilliant colors you used. I really am going to have to pull out those portfolio oil sticks and use them soon.

So beautiful, Kim! Oh my goodness, but I just LOVE those rich, vibrant colors so much! I've been feeling like this, as well. My heart wants change, needs it, is begging for it. And yet I feel like I've been walking through quicksand most of the time. It's always uplifting and hope-infusing to see how others, like yourself (and Connie), are working with what life brings you. I'm always grateful for that. xoxo
Wow! Another beautiful page. I love the colors and the words...so beautiful.

How crazy, I just posted about change...wow!
The image you created here is breathtaking. I love every bit of it. I think too, loving yourself and moving through, not resisting change is so important. I've been in some changes for years, mostly because I settle into sameness so cozily that I look up and months have gone by. I realized that I'd been thinking about change, feeling the inner nudge to change, but hand't moved one bit!
Beautiful and thought provoking image you created Kim.
Kim, this is fabulous....the rich colors, the deep words, all growing into one big huge heart...ALL YOURS!!
That India ink is just stunning, the contrast is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. And yep, we *do* need to be kind to ourselves, don't we?
Beautiful words Kim, and such a poignant piece you created. I love how you share that big heart of yours...yet again.
Love and hugs,
arlene
