Rediscovering…

I have my issues with anxiety. I think it is part of being an ultra sensitive person in this world with so much crazy, hard stuff surrounding us.

Anyway, anxiety sometimes gets the better of me, especially at the more hormonal time of the month.

For the last month or so, there has been so much good stuff in my life, I am utterly and completely blown away.

That is why when anxiety gets too intense when life is good, I get really, really pissed off !

Which, believe it or not, doesn’t help ! Winking smile

But yesterday, I realized that I had kind of let go of one of my very best tools for dealing with anxiety.

I HAVE NOT BEEN WORKING/PLAYING IN MY ART JOURNAL !!!!

Dumb-dumb girl!

David had suggested I do some meditation to help my anxiety. Sometimes that is a good thing, but not when the crazy bug in my head is too out of control ! That passive activity doesn’t work when I feel like I am jumping out of my skin.

But then I was suddenly drawn to shove all my “crafty” crafty fair stuff out of the way and  get out my journal and make ART instead…

Ahhhhh, that feels so much better….

kind of crappy photos as it is cloudy and dark here and the journal is too big for my scanner…picture it much more rich purple than this washed out blue and lilac…

I am telling you, for the few hours involved in making these pages over the last two days, the anxiety was gone. Present in the present moment, looking for colors, texture, composition, connection, my mind is quietly focused on what is right before me…

Heaven !

Oh, Art, I love you !

You have saved me once again.

Happy Thursday, Beautiful Ones.

I hope you remember to pick up your own best tools today.

Big Love !

Stunning! Some say the best art comes from moments like those. It's a warming thought to think of you at your table, colours flying, paper scraps left and right. All is right with the world now.

Wow. Great therapy, and really great art. Maybe the creative process is more intense when that edginess is there. Good for you for channeling it into something so positive. Your pages sing!

Love the work in your art journal. It may be more vibrant in person, but it is stunning regardless! Wish I could come to you craft fair. I see a couple of those glass circles I'd be buying in a hurry!

so glad art making did the trick...I love what you created. And yes those little glass collages are awesome!
And yes, I did create today, finished a mixed media piece I started at the beginning of the week not knowing where it was going wasn't sure i'd ever get there and then woke up this morning with the perfect finishing touch! Love how it works. Just wish I could skip the "im not at all sure of myself part"...

Kim - perhaps for you art journaling IS a form of meditation. The results are awesome! I think you should just spend all your time playing with paint and paper! oh, and rocks!

Oh, Kim, I am loving these pages...don't know whether you've realized it, but your art is taking a huge jump right now. It's always been awesome, but something magical is happening right now, my friend!
Just got back from seeing Patti Digh...your rocks were a hit. Mine said, "Jump!"

RF - so happy to read this....and learn that your anxiety doesn't cross over into your art....but that art is the Rx against anxiety. a dose a day....

oh WOW!
I wish I could take a class with you Kim.
I am itching to start up an art journal again, just start, some paint, one page, you know?
But I can't seem to make myself sit there.
The book I have now gets all yucky when I try to use water on the page.
What do you suggest, for an inexpensive, but decent book? I need a fairly big one because I'm left handed.

I love those curls, swirls so much! The whole pages knocked my socks off!!!

PS I'm sorry the anxiety has been riding with you lately. I get that so much. I'm really glad you just busted out the art journal stuff.

Love your ring and globey art things. So fun!

Hey Kim,
I'm just wondering about making some pendants something like what you've done there for Christmas presents ~ I've got the glass, I've got the art ~ just wondering how you get the pendant thingie to stay on the glass part??
Just curious ~
