Finding my shiny…

It has been snowy and very grey since Sunday.

IMG_6929

Not the most cheerful weather for me.

I definitely feel the lack of light and how it effects my mood.

I am trying hard to use some of the tricks I know to keep me from sinking.

IMG_6931

One is painting with bright colors.

I am so in love with my new “Fruits of my Labor” piece.

(11X14” acrylic on canvas)

IMG_6935

I have to say that Golden Acrylics are such a joy to paint with when you need that vibrancy and saturation of color. Expensive yes, but they really are worth the money !

I haven’t done any Christmas decorating yet.

David and I always travel for Christmas,

and sometimes,

the decorating seems like more work than pleasure.

Maybe my Christmasy mood will increase this weekend.

But I have started lighting my sweet twinkle lights in the living room, my studio and our bedroom every day.

That is a light that makes me smile.

Another thing that is really good for me is to focus on giving.

Getting out of my own head and sharing my gifts with others in a genuine, no expectations way.

I did that at meditation class this week.

I brought my rocks with me and offered each of the 10 or so people in the class

to reach into my bag and choose three or four rocks for themselves.

IMG_6942

The magic happened as always !

A couple of women were amazed,

and received just the message from the Universe that they needed

and I received loving hugs in return.

I am so grateful for those rocks and my Rock Fairy job.

I am working on other little gifties to bring smiles to some others in my life as well.

All so good for keeping Kimbo in a shiny place.

Today is sunshiny, even if it is cold.

I promise myself to get this head out into the sun and soak in some of those rays.

I hope you find your shinies today too, Beautiful Ones !

Big winter time love !

Building a bridge…

I emailed a dear friend yesterday morning as said

“Do you ever have a day when you just hate most people in the world ?”

I was kind of in that mind frame a little.

I think that I was on the top of the list of people that I wasn’t enjoying being around.

But, as my wise friend suggested, the best way to turn that feeling around is to practice some good self-care.

For me, that includes getting out of my head, being in the present moment,

and taking time to look up…

IMG_6035IMG_6036

and look down,

IMG_6044

to breathe in and notice beauty around me.

To surround myself with things I enjoy and

put on clothes in color that makes me feel happy.

IMG_6038IMG_6048

Nothing like a colorful scarf or  my favorite purple Chucks!

With the intention of helping my mood by spending some quality Me-Time in the studio,

I also dug out my favorite painting shirt.

The hand prints on the boobs are my own, and the pink “beautiful” bit on the back was stitched on by my friend and Mish Mash Queen, Deb Taylor when we both joined Beth McWilliams for a amazing visit in Seaside, FL a few years back.

I then sat down without a plan, with a blank 12X12” canvas and my glorious Golden Acrylics,

Pandora Radio on the Bose speakers playing some favorite mellow tunes,

and let the paint take me where it wanted to go…

By the end of this exercise, I was definitely more my true self again.

Not only that, but I kind of fell in love with my Self.

Proud that I had taken the time to return to center, that I had given a voice to my Creative spirit, and that I had brought some more beauty into this world.

Practice makes as close to perfect as we will ever get, Beautiful Ones.

Let’s go love on ourselves today !

Happy Tuesday !

Day Light Savings Time Weekend…

On Saturday, my honey wasn’t feeling well. Sad smile

I was bummed for him, and myself as well.

It was a really beautiful day, and I wanted to get out.

But I really didn’t feel like going out alone.

So instead, I went in as my honey rested.

With a window open in the studio, good tunes on Pandora radio, and sunshine streaming in,

I took a 20X20” canvas and went in

to wherever my intuitive artist wanted to go…

I got to this point and really liked what was happening.

IMG_4489

Then I added the purple here and felt like I had ruined it somehow !

Especially in that upper left section. Too dark. The spring feeling was gone.

Suddenly, I hated the thing !

Argh…

Time for a good break.

Brushes washed, kitties skritched,

IMG_4492

and a late afternoon nap with my man

and I was able to come back to the painting in the evening and complete it.

IMG_4493

I didn’t take photos of the process as it was pretty dark in the studio, but I gessoed over a lot of the piece, and then went in with the cobalt blue/purple color, lots of detail stuff with white and black acrylic ink,

IMG_4495

and brought the painting to where it felt finished.

IMG_4523

Now I am much happier with it !

“Sprung” – acrylic on canvas, 20X20”

Luckily, David was feeling better on Sunday and we went for a scenic drive along the seacoast. We saw a lot of damage from last week’s storm where the high waves breeched the sea walls.

IMG_4497

(crazy waves and kooky couples in North Hampton)

The Rock Fairy beaches still have some rocks but very little sand left.

Then we drove on to Kittery, Maine to hit some of the outlet stores and did a little bit of retail therapy.

It was a sweet afternoon and did both David and I a lot of good.

Oh yeah…

I also stopped at Michaels on the way home and bought another 20X20” gallery wrapped canvas on sale for 50% off…

More intuitive exploration to come !

Hope your week is off to a good start too, Beautiful Ones !

Big Love !
