Art Journal Collage Page - May 21st, 2009

I did this page really quickly this morning - in about an hour or so. Interesting when things just come together in a flow, no struggle, no doubt.
I grabbed a bunch of scraps from my pile of painted papers in turquoise and orange. I glued them down on the page with Golden Matte Gel Medium. I filled in the blank spaces with acrylic paints in gold (Lumiere), bronze Lumiere), Azul blue and Laguna Blue (Craft store stuff), watered down, dry brushed, brushed through sequin waste, wiped with paper towel, etc... I added the bird with a stencil and orange craft store paint on a make-up sponge mixed with the Lumiere bronze. The details and the quote were added last with a ultra-fine tipped white Elmer's Painters marker and black Indian Ink and a fountain pen.
I have been really fearless when it comes to playing in my art journal these days. I have pretty much left that pesky inner critic out of it completely somehow. It is pretty cool what comes out of me when I don't worry at all about the end results.
Now if only I could apply this to the rest of my life !!!! ;)
Happy Thursday ! Go be fearless !

Kim,
I love this piece, the colors the images the feelings. I need to feel fearless again. I haven't done any art in over a week. I walk into my studio and nothing calls to me. Can I have some of your fearlessness?
Kate
I love it! It's amazing and there is such an edge to this piece and the last...a bold, fearless, beautiful edge. It feels a little more confrontational in a great way. Keep being fearless my friend!
Goodness ... bodacious and fearless ... You Go Girl! :D
SO much good stuff here, Kim! I'm late and remiss for not stopping by when you've been leaving such wonderful comments on my blog. I plead too many things going on at once. Please forgive me.
That said, I love your fearlessness and the art that is flowing from it. The ability to accept and ultimately embrace all parts of ourselves is the ultimate act of healing. It creates richness and depth and balance -- and it's showing in your work. Brava!
I love the turquoise and orange! I hope someday I can make beautiful art! I'd love to have seen you make this. Do you ever video your process?
Thanks for sharing!
I'm loving these journal pages...
I used to make them all the time and then photography took over my heart...
maybe this weekend I'll get messy with some matte medium and paint !!
Hi, Kim! I love your journal page! That quote is AWESOME! Gorgeous! All hail the Fearless Queen! :-)
Wow, how really, REALLY beautiful! Your connection to the flow totally comes through in it. I so admire you're ability to play with abandon in creating! You make it sound so easy, too, but it just don't fall together that way for moi most of the time. But you keep me inspired, and your confidence is contagious!
I loved it for the great colours and the quote. You'r on My Favourites list!
These are really beautiful pages...ethereal... I really like them a lot, Kim! And about your comment of feeling fearless in the art journal...for me, that's what it is all about.
Absolutely stunning :) This piece soars! :)
Love this and that quote has always been one of my favorites.
So glad your inner critic is on hiatus because these are inspiring. I wish I could paint so intuitively, but it only happens rarely. As you can see on my blog, I recently forced myself to do a fast page. It was very liberating, but I can't seem to work that way with paint. I love thes pages, though, so spiritual and lovely. I haven't forgotten your print. I've been so busy wrapping up the school year, and I really want to find a paper like you used.
