August Break Final Prompt for 2014 : LOVE !

I have loved doing this challenge !

Even if I didn’t quite complete every prompt,

I managed to blog a lot more this month than I have in a long time.

And it was fun being challenged by photo prompts everyday.

Today’s prompt of Love was easy !

David and I headed to our favorite place, the beach, and played like two silver fish in the Gulf Of Mexico.

First Post of the New Year, 2014!

I have been neglecting my dear blog over the holidays !

That is maybe because I have been living life in the “real” world so fully.

We had an amazing Christmas in Montreal and La Conception.

Lots of love, laughter and good food.

And yesterday, David and I celebrated New Year’s Eve with my dear friend Suzanne.

We bundled up warmly, donned our silly party hats and grabbed our noise makers

and headed to Hampton Beach, NH to watch the fireworks show

under the stars and over the sea !

Cold, cold, cold (about 16 F) but fun anyway

and there was a great crowd of revelers there !

This morning, David and I did the annual dance in the snow in our bare feet,

inspired by my Mommy, who started this tradition when I was a little kid.

Kooky, cold but invigorating none the less !

My pal Suzy is here for the rest of the week.

Since they are announcing snow and cold for the next few days,

we have planned some fun arty stuff to do together.

Such a great way to launch the new year !

Maybe, as we play,

I will get the message from the Universe

about my Word of the Year.

I started to get a bit of impulses towards it today in fact…

Thank God for Art !

My love and I went to the beach to gather some Rock Fairy supplies on Sunday.

We found just the break that we needed from the busy work of getting home ready for winter in New England.

I discovered beautiful formations I had never seen or noticed before.

Like the rocks were putting on a show for me and my camera !

David had Monday off as he works for a bank and they were closed for Veteran’s Day.

We took advantage of the day to keep on working on projects around the house.

Gazebo taken down, painting projects before it is too cold to paint, plus the usual mundane tasks of laundry, garbage & recycling, cat litter boxes, etc…

Seems endless sometimes, doesn’t it ?

And then there is winter coming…

yikers.

Plus, my heart is feeling so bruised.

Battered and bruised by all the suffering, sadness, struggle and bad news in our world.

I am struggling to keep in a place of gratitude and focusing on what is good.

And it rung so true for me.

I am extra grateful for my cozy studio this morning,

with its riot of creative goodies to play with…

and for my time alone, to escape and be free of the world’s heaviness for a bit,

and to rock this precious day

to the best of my creative Artist Soul’s ability.

Halloween Doodles, Birthdays and Love !

This doodle spread began when I was on the phone and started finding shapes on the scrap paper I use to protect my current journal page around the edges, and for  over-spray with spray inks.

My fine black Faber Castell pen discovered all kinds of beings…

Then today, after I had spent a few hours painting Rock My World rocks,

I needed to escape into journaling for a bit,

so I cranked up the tunes and doodled and filled in color here and there and made this piece, with its Beings, Birdies and even a little garden of sorts.

Today is Halloween and also my hubby, David’s birthday.

We won’t actually be donning costumes this year,

and we kind of celebrated the birthday a day early since we both were really in need of a dinner and drinkie out last night.

There will be cake and candles today though !

I am giving thanks…

Just little bits of sweet joy from a long Thanksgiving weekend in Quebec…

We got to meet Patine, my friend Suzanne’s new baby Old English Sheep dog.

Man, is she cute !!!

Chica was a great older auntie dog to her, playing a lot but also showing that little one some limits.

So much fun to watch !

Sunday, we traveled to my sister Kristina’s in La Conception. Quebec (near Mont Tremblant).

There we got to see this little cutie, Miss Kate, who Uncle Dave and I adore !

Dave loves her so much, he even lets her decorate him.

I am sure he won’t mind me sharing this pic of him on the internet.

Along with Katie, her brilliant bro and fire keeper, Thomas, and their mom and dad, we had a Thanksgiving feast with 18 other lovely members of our family !

Such an amazing group of people. So much good conversation, great food, hugs, laughter and good family loving !

 

I was too busy soaking it all in to take too many pics, but I did capture a few, like my shiny Mom and and sister,  Kristina, Natalie squeezing her daughter Jessica tight, and Miss Katie hanging with her other aunt, Natalie.

Along with Thanksgiving, there was a continuation of the birthday festival for me !

I am so blessed !

These are just some of the sweet and loving birthday gifts I received !

I think the glow from this wonderful weekend will last for a long while…

They waited....

David and I had a fabulous time on our week's staycation

 

with my sister, Kristina, her husband John, and the kiddos, Katie

and Thomas. 

Lots of beach time, giggles, good food and good company! 

The house sure feels quiet now that they have all headed home. 

But it was nice to have some time in the studio this morning.

I am continuing in my newly rediscovered journal. These Rock Beings keep coming, with their painted backgrounds and found poetry bits...

These two emerged today. They have a chasm between them, it would seem.

Looks as those each one of them is waiting for the other to breach it, to span the great stretch.

Impatiently, they wait...

Could be a long one unless one of them opens their heart and takes a chance...

My own stretch of quiet won't be long 

as my dear friend Suzanne is coming tomorrow evening to stay for the week. 

More beach time, lots of arty fun and easy times with my old friend.

 Looking forward to it!
