I once asked a dear artist /mentor/friend who had the same impulses as me to create these carefully placed vignettes of color, shape and texture

whether what we were doing

could be considered

Art.

She decided that it definitely was, especially when it was photographed.

I agree.

Carefully placing bits of beauty together in a puzzle-like process until they just click in my eye, mind, soul.

Art making at its most simple, and infinitely satisfying.

Especially when captured through my lens.

Bibitte Inspiration – Monday July 28, 2014

I have been away from regular blogging for such a long while now

that I feel like I don’t know where to jump back in.

I have decided to participate in Susannah Conway’s

August Break

“This is a community project that has no real rules –  the idea is to simply take a photograph every day for the whole of August. That’s it. Pause, look around you and shoot what you see. Live inside each moment. Pay attention to what’s there. If it’s the summer where you are it’s a lovely way to be present to the moments that will be gone before you know it. If it’s the winter, what better way to liven up your day than with a creative project to play with? :)”

 

I am not so great with sticking to things, but I really want to try and commit to this project.

I may or may not stick to the prompts that Susannah has provided.

I just want to see where inspiration guides me.

I have also decided to start early.

Monday.

A perfect day to begin.

I wish you has smell-o-vision on your screen ! The lily of the valley is so sweeeeeet !

And then there is some awesome inspired art time…

Yesterday, I lost myself in making this page in my journal.

So lost in fact that when I surfaced, I realized I was still in my pjs with bedhead and due to meet Lois for lunch in about 25 minutes! I was a little late !

This page was inspired by the incredible posts that Lisa at Life Unity has been sharing the past little while.

Some of them have gone really deeply in for me.

Lisa is a beautiful thinker and a glorious and loving Heart. And I love the food for my Soul that she provides.

She made me appreciate and see the truth in my recent choice and desire to keep focused on my “World Work” on this planet.

It is what I am here for and I know it in my deep down Soul.

Love is the answer to every question

and sending more of it out into the world is the work I am here to do.

So not a bad week in the Joy department, wouldn’t you say?

Also in there were sweet moments spent with some good friends, lots of laughter with the hubby and the delivery of a new and very needed fridge.

I am so very blessed !

Warning : Some Joy Ahead

From this week’s JOY List :

David and I visited an awesome place called “Old House Parts” in Kennebunk, Maine on last Sunday.

We were looking for a doorknob to fit the 100 year old fixtures we have in our house.

As you can imagine from the name, this place had some amazing things to peek at and photograph !

like this interestingly placed warning sign…

or this Chick with the amazing hat, hanging out way up on top of an old wooden telephone booth.

But the thing that I saw that thrilled me the most was this guy :

This is Napoleon, and he is one of the most magnificent cats I have ever, ever seen.

He is the size of a full grown Jack Russell terrier but probably heavier.

And what cat have you ever seen that has a heart-shaped nose like this :

and the word “JOY” spelled out on his side !

Napoleon was such a treat ! He is featured on the shop’s website and has free reign over the place. I left him purring on an old ratan recliner, curled up on a Winnie the Pooh blanket.

Loved him !

I have also been getting joyfully getting back to creating and painting,

though slowly for some reason.

Here is what has been popping up in my little “Blob” journal.

I prepped a whole bunch of pages with red ink and a eyedropper so they would be ready to go.

This strange bunny with her flower backpack appeared in this blob. She got a random line for poetry from an old book page. I love how the perfect line just appeared on the page I grabbed to cut up !

I used markers and Twinkle H20 watercolors to fill in the drawing.

The blob on the page next to the bizarre rabbit became

these interesting flowers. Some of my new ProMarkers, some Pitt Artist pens and a Liquid Paper pen brought color to this piece I did in front of the tv.

I love that there are more blobs waiting for me to play with too !

Speaking of waiting, this is a 12X12 inch canvas that I started this week as well.

It is waiting to see where it will go next.

I love Golden Fluid Acrylics !!!

Oh and one more thing that brought me joy this week :

the spring weather that has allowed me to take out the new purple glittery Chucks !

They make my feet and eyes happy !

Don’t you just love “little happies !”

From Today’s Joy List :

1. The perfect rock for me today found in the bottom of my purse when I reached in for my phone.

2. New art journal supplies, ready for play !

3. Today’s quote in my new little quote notebook : “There is more to life than increasing its speed.” – Thank you, Gandhi !

4. New eggplant colored El Naturalista clogs in a sunbeam that showed up for a few minutes in the studio.

 

Today, on Share the Joy Thursday,

I needed to create a joy list today even more than I needed to share one!

I woke up icky, pms-y, rainy day grey inside and out…

I am realizing the importance of keeping myself filled up in order to have enough energy to keep on giving where I love to give.

When I don’t, the blahs can easily move in.

Looking for simple joys, listing them, celebrating them and sharing them

really does help deal with those blahs…

They are not gone but now feel much more balanced by

the sweet joys around me.

Time to crank up some tunes and go lose myself in some art making for a bit.

Another tool I know that fills up this loving Soul of mine.

I hope you fill yourself up with joy today, Beautiful Ones !

Share the Joy Thursday–Walks and Rocks

I have been getting back into the routine of going on Rock Fairy walks in the mornings this summer.

With rocks filling my pockets, my camera in one hand, and Chica’s leash in the other,

I set out…

It has become a source of some sweet simple joy for me.

Yesterday’s Rock Fairy walk was all about the one word wonders…

It is amazing how much can be said with just one word, isn’t it ?

Like this little purple rock

up on the third step…do you see it?

Or these single word rocks left on the benches around my favorite park…

The park where I left a rock on this piece of graffiti on the walk way earlier in the week…

The graffiti was still there but the rock “I am here” rock was not.

So I added a new rock to the mix…

This “fine” rock was left on a bigger rock in another park close by. It is one of my favorite spots to leave a rock because it is kind of out of the way.

It never fails to blow me away that when I return there, the previous rock has been taken by some unknown person who it was meant for.

I like the stories that sometimes come from my rocks and my photos mixing together.

Like this pic of Chica, the yellow lab, where she looks like a little dog beside a great big fire hydrant…

and the rock that I put on the very top of the hydrant for someone to find !

Then there are photos that bring me surprises when I get them home and look at them more closely…

Like this shot I took of the cool shadow a leafy tree was casting…

Love it when the Universe gifts me with those hearts !

After a rocking walk, it is always a joy to come home again, too.

That is the

truth !

Art journal page : What Inspires You

I started listing all the things that inspire me and came to the conclusion that it may be easier to say what doesn't !

I see the world through the eye's of an Artist and for that I am sooooo grateful.

The unusual, the beautiful, the inspiring just kind of finds me. Whether I can translate what I see and feel into my own art is another story...;)

Here are some of my favorite shots from my discovery walk.

I had read the prompt before I left so "heavy metal" was kind of the theme of the walk too.

I have also been in a red place all week.

It came out in my journal pages as well as in my meditation on Monday night, where we did some work with chakras and color. It was my first time really examining things with this kind of focus. It was very pretty interesting, a little intense and gave me a lot to think about in terms of how we can help heal ourselves with so many different tools.

It made sense that then, that the fire hydrants with their reds, bright or dulled, and wonderful rusts popped out at me as I walked. I love putting a Rock My World rock on top of them. Some cool contrasts in color and I love to think of someone seeing the rock out of the corner of their eye, balanced there...

So that is where I am at in terms of the Boot Camp activities. It feels like a challenge to get to each activity every day but I am feeling a sense of accomplishment already as the pages in my journal fill up and the files of photos do too !

I woke up angry, PMS-y, crabby, sore-backy this morning.

On our morning phone call, my Mom asked me what I was going to do today.

I replied :

"Make it through the day."

I could have added :

"Try to keep from biting anyone's head off."

as I feel like every thought in my head is an angry one waiting to be expressed by my tongue with the sharpest words possible.

So I think I will lay low...

Maybe read a little or watch a movie where I can be gone from myself for a few hours...

Today is Thankfulness Thursday though so I will say that

I am grateful for this day and the freedom that I have to just wallow a little.

It makes me so much more grateful when I get back to the other side of

my Self...
