Studio Day Monday

It was a busy day in the Queen of Arts Studio.

 IMG_2494

Pumpkin and I began the day with the Deepak and Oprah Manifesting Grace through Gratitude Meditation.

We are on day 8 and I am quite impressed with myself for not missing a single day !

Then I headed to the work table and continued work on this intuitive painting piece. Its a 20X20” canvas.

Its gone through quite a few transformations but I am liking the final orange version quite a lot !

IMG_2513

IMG_2514The pics don’t quite get the vibrancy of the orange nor do they pick  up the gold metallic touches that I added here and there.

IMG_2515

It was a little grey today so maybe I will try and get more pics tomorrow but I love the little details…

IMG_2518  I also did this page in my new journal.

It was a struggle !

I have been taking the Happy Painting class by Juliette Crane and it has made me play around with different materials and different ways of painting faces and I am kind of lost in the mish mash of styles right now.

IMG_2521

I kept at it and pulled out the old dip pen and the inks and put my own messy style on page.

IMG_2523 In the end I decided to just let it be what it is for now.

Its definitely not my favorite page and I was kind of disappointed that it was the first one in my new Moleskine journal.

But then again, I have to remember that journaling is not all about making pretty art.

Its about taking the time to do heart art.

IMG_2470[1]

So f*** off, Inner Critic.

The page stays as is ! I will not be taking your advice to rip it out of the book.  ;)

While letting the paint dry on both of the other pieces,

IMG_2506  I decided to spend part of the afternoon stitching.

Stitching and watching a movie.

I watched “Words and Pictures” with Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen.

I give the movie a 6.8 out of ten.

The movie played with the question of whether words or pictures are more important in and of course, there was a bumpy romance in the story as well. A pretty good chick flick.

Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

And my jeans are starting to look pretty badass, no ?

I feel so lucky to have had this day to play.

Tomorrow will be filled with errands and such, and then Wednesday, I will be packing.

Heading north to visit my Quebec peeps and get a bit of that Northern Summer beauty.

Really excited to hug some of my special people up there ! I miss them a lot !

Happy Monday, Beautiful Ones !

Thanks for a lovely Black Friday !

Thanksgiving was a sweet gathering,

and yummy food eaten at David’s Dad’s house.

David, I and Chica spent part of our Black Friday at the beach.

IMG_6847

It was cold but we were bundled up,

and Chica kept warm, racing after her favorite object on the planet,

the blue rubber ball.

IMG_6854

That,

and some turkey and stuffing sandwiches on white bread

made the day pretty much perfect !

******************

Off to Montreal and La Conception for a birthday hug for my sister Natalie, and some Christmas arts and crafts with the niece and nephew.

Many hugs from other important people along the way, I am sure !

Have a great first week of December, Beautiful Ones !

They say it’s your birthday !

Today this little girl

turned 48.

IMG_6178

Happy Birthday, Kimbo !

IMG_6179

I woke up early to receive phone calls from some of my favorite peeps.

And even got a home made banana bread baked for me by my Honey for breakfast.

After joyfully reading a whole bunch of sweet birthday wishes on Facebook,

I decided to take myself on an Artist Date in the studio.

I pretended I was at a Cold Play concert, listening to this album as I played :

I sang and danced along with Chris and the guys.

Chica even joined in the dancing for a couple of tunes.

And as the music played,

I created this two page spread in my moleskine art journal.

I was so glad to see the beauty back after the uglies of yesterday.

(Though we have decided that uglies are necessary and valuable in their own right too.)

I also like that Buddha somehow became a woman here.

They say that all of us are the Buddha after all. Winking smile

As I was soaking in the fact that I am 48 years old now,

I decided on one more major gift for myself.

I am going to work really, really hard at squashing the negative voices in my head,

and to stop the self-criticism that has been so much a part of my every day for so very long.

I am going to work to the best of my ability to turn

mean, cruel messages that I give myself

into positive, motivating and self-loving ones.

Starting today !

Starting right now.

So I am off to enjoy the rest of my birthday day.

Not sure where I am headed,

but I know that this beautiful, creative, shiny Rock Fairy Star

will be shining brightly as I go !

Thanks to all for the sweet, sweet birthday love !!!

Love and light!

Felt play date at the Lake House

This
became this
became this
and finally this
today at my play day with my dear friend Suzanne.
These cute felt beings will dry over night and be arty fun pieces that will remind us of how much good stuff we accomplish when we play well together! :)
Love you, Suzie!
Thanks for today!

(Mine is the turquoise pear shaped one with rocks on the belly. More pics later when it's dry and there's daylight.)

Sunday, inside and out.

It’s a good morning…

IMG_3128

inside

IMG_3125

and out !

IMG_3126

Look what came from inside…

IMG_3127

out last night.

Wowza.

I created this.

Tracy Verdugo inspired the style and gave me the stepping stones

but I think it is all me.

IMG_3127

I am loving intuitive painting very much right now.

And on Tuesday, I will have my friend Lois here at my house,

and we will let the intuitive creators inside of us out to play!

Enjoy the ins and outs of this sweet Sunday, Beautiful Ones.

Big Love !

The cat lost his heart.

Now he searches land and sea.

He’s lost without it.

IMG_0785

The kitty cats came to visit this morning.

Kind of makes sense when you remember that I have three of them.

I was also inspired by one of my favorite artists, Lynne Hoppe, who was playing around with faces, kitty cat ears, and Suzi Blu’s book.

I am not feeling very inspired in the studio these days.

I just seem to feel like playing with little bits, instant gratification stuff.

That’s okay though.

I know inspiration for bigger things will return one day soon.

Speaking of little bits, I did a bit of a sprucing up around the blog, as you may have noticed.

If you can believe it, this is my 699th post !

I am away next week so I am thinking that the 700th post will have to be a giveaway/celebration post so that people can leave me comments for the week and I will give away the prize when I return.

Stay tuned for that this weekend, Beautiful Ones !

In the meantime, enjoy your Friday and lots of fun haiku with the gang.

Much love !
