Those ocean blue skies

Waves soothe and tickle my heart

My parasol day.

*********************

As I sat under my parasol yesterday at Ogunquit Beach in Maine,

I was struck so many times

by how very, very blessed I was to be enjoying such a day.

It was hot but there was a glorious sea breeze.

The water was an unusual 70 degrees and a delight to swim in.

I was with some dear friends,

and I was free to do whatever I wanted!

It was a truly joy-filled day.

I am so grateful to live so close to the ocean and all its treats !

Thanks to Suzanne and Nathalie for sharing their beach day with me.

I hope your weekend is full of joyous treats, Beautiful Ones !

Big love !

Haiku My Heart–I can choose…

I can choose happy.

There is such power in that.

I can choose happy.

We had a very rainy week in Maine.

But that’s okay. We rested, read, played obnoxious games on the laptop,

had naps, walked the dog through the puddles, and were snug as a couple of bugs in our little camper in the quiet campground.

We did venture out for some shopping yesterday, when the rain let up for a few hours.

I chose this handmade pottery mug – “happy” on one side, “grumpy” on the other.

This morning, the sun came out.

I did a photo shoot, extreme bed head and all.

No matter what I did, I couldn’t pull off the “grumpy “ !

oguinquit bracelet 005

Too busy making the choice to be happy, I guess.

The bracelet David secretly bought and snuck into the bag for me at the Abacus Gallery store says it all…

A great weekend in the making, I think !

Tonight, David and I are going to dinner and a comedy show at Jonathan’s Restaurant in Ogunquit, Maine. We are seeing Bob Marley, the comedian, not the reggae singer who is no longer with us !

I bought the tickets for the evening for David as part of his (50th) birthday gift. His birthday is actually on Sunday, October 31st ! He is a Halloween Baby who doesn’t really like the whole dress up thing. That’s okay though…sometimes I ask him really nicely and he gives in ! Winking smile

I have organized some other little surprises for Sunday as well.

All kinds of good things to celebrate my sweet, shiny, gorgeous Honey ! Yay !

My haiku today was inspire by a post on Choosing Beauty. Go over and check out the treasure that Liv posted ! She is one inspiring and beautiful chick !

I hope your Friday is full of right-ness !

Big Love !

My Summer Beach Vacation Photos…

David and I rented a camper trailer in Wells, Maine for the week which we shared with my sister Kristina, her hubby John, my nephew Thomas and my niece, Kate.

Here are some of my favorite photos from our time…P7260132

Rocks painted by nephews and nieces and left around the trailer for the Rock Fairy to find !

(I named this one “Quevousfaites”, Katie’s version of “Whatcha doing ?” a common phrase of the week !”

P7300007

You know the Rock Fairy really loved this one !

P7310047

Hot sunny summer days mean masses of humanity and umbrellas on the beach…

P7310057

We joined them and chose to enjoy it all !

P7310081

Major exception was the men in Speedos – can’t say I enjoyed them. Made me kind of ill really.  TMI visually, TMI!!!! (too much information)

Unless you are an Olympic swimmer in a competition swimming pool, Speedos should be illegal (do you hear that, 40 something men who couldn’t have pulled one off when you were 20 either!)…

Sorry for the rant…

Back to the photos…

One thing that was extra special about having a trailer near the beach was that we could visit the beach a second time in the evenings when it was cooler.

The beach at Wells, Maine also allows dogs on the beach after 6:00 pm.

Guess who was in heaven !!!

Miss Chica was a star, racing after that blue rubber ball in the surf !

Ahhh, beach love….

Not much art being made, though…

Too busy creating life-long memories…

I did have one quiet morning where the art journal came out…

Artist in Residence job description…  P7310043Quevousfaites approved…

We got home Saturday evening and spent the day yesterday brushing sand off of things, missing our little family from La Conception, and getting ready for going back to the regular schedule of life.

We did go see “Despicable Me” late in the afternoon as well. Have you seen it ?

Loved it !!!

Especially Agnes (littlest chickie with the high pony and sweet, sweet heart)…

I kind of think I am Agnes in a lot of ways…

Here is a clip of my favorite scene in the movie…”It’s So FLUFFY!!!!”

The movie made me laugh and laugh…a perfect treat to end our vacation week with.

Monday means studio time, blog time, and meditation class tonight…

All that with a sun-kissed nose and rested and happy heart…

Hope your Monday is great too, Beautiful Ones !

Ocean Side R & R for the Queen and her Man

So the hubby and I were fortunate enough to spend the weekend in Ogunquit, Maine. The weather was more summer-like than spring-like with temps in the 80's even at the seacoast.

This was the view from our hotel room at the Anchorage by the Sea, right on the Marginal Way. We spent two days and nights looking out at this :

With so many beautiful sights to see, like this :

(I could have watched the waves crash on the rocks all day !)

there were watchers of all kinds facing the sea

Of course I had to take some time for some Queen of Arts fun with the camera :

I even put the toes into the water (This foot shot is for you, Joanie !) !

It may have been warm outside, but the water temp was around 42 !

There had to be some "Rock My World" action too !

This pile of rocks was already started on this big driftwood log :

So I added the "let it go" rock that had been sitting on my computer for a good long while, bringing it back to its watery roots.

It made me happy to let that one go. I also left this one

on a bench along the Marginal Way to make someone else's day.

It was a pretty wonderful weekend for David and me. Some definite R & R as a couple which was needed and so appreciated. It felt like we were away at some resort down south thanks to the weather, though we were only an hour from home. They do things up nice, over there in Maine, from the wondrous ocean views to other cool things that you see when you look up :

Just goes to show,

you can get there from here

if you take the time to go.
