Summertime Lunch

Lunch.

Florida Tomatoes.

Ready to be chopped up with basil, garlic, green olives and mozzarella,

drizzled with olive oil and fresh ground black pepper.

Left to macerate for a few hours.

Then scooped on top of steaming hot linguine.

Cheese gets melty, garlic and basil emit their fragrant scent,

olives add their salt goodness,

and the tomatoes share their sweetness.

Haiku My Heart - Lazy Summer Days

Lazy summer days

Soaking in and creating

Beauty all around.

Here we are at Friday again. Time is going so quickly this summer. I have had a quiet week this week, in between some lovely guests who are making my home feel full and my heart feel glad. 

I have been slowly creating bits and pieces, finishing up some needle felting on my Grey Together Being that I made with my friend Suzanne last week...

and stitching away on a lovely piece of eucalyptus dyed Korhogo cloth that amazing Elizabeth (http://elizabethbunsen.typepad.com/) gifted me along the way.

Feeling a little low energy but maybe that is what the lazy days of summer should be ?

Whatever the pace, I am defintely so appreciative of and grateful for the beauty I find around me.

Haiku My Heart–Beach Time

Those ocean blue skies

Waves soothe and tickle my heart

My parasol day.

As I sat under my parasol yesterday at Ogunquit Beach in Maine,

I was struck so many times

by how very, very blessed I was to be enjoying such a day.

It was hot but there was a glorious sea breeze.

The water was an unusual 70 degrees and a delight to swim in.

I was with some dear friends,

and I was free to do whatever I wanted!

It was a truly joy-filled day.

I am so grateful to live so close to the ocean and all its treats !

Thanks to Suzanne and Nathalie for sharing their beach day with me.

Haiku my Heart - Lakeside

I

Bluebells, orange Lilies,

Artist and her furry charge,

Bloom by the lakeside.

It is hot and steamy in Vermont. Feels more like FLA today. Luna and I will stay as chill as possible in our lakeside hang out.

Soul Treats

Taking a little blog break to enjoy the last bits of summer 2012.

This will include putting my feet in the sand and sea here at home today.

Tomorrow, I will be traveling to my cottage north of Montreal for a weekend with my sweet sisters and some swimming in the magical waters of Lac Bibitte.

The weekend will also include hugging and smooching a 3 month old baby Anderson, and some time with his mom and his dad.

And finally, a visit with my beautiful artist friend, e.b., which is an incredible Soul treat  that is sure to fill me up some more.

Today, I will be…

After a pretty rainy, extremely humid weekend,

it was a treat to wake up to dry air, cooler temps and this glorious morning light from the sun.

The first thing I noticed though, was that the sun is definitely heading into its end of summer, early fall position.

How can that be ?

August just began, right ?

Everyone I talk to remarks on how fast time is flying.

I feel it too, especially when I stop focusing on the moment in front of me, and look ahead to the future.

On this beautiful Monday morning in August,

I am going to try my best to be right here where I am,

and relish this one precious life, each and every moment of it.

This cat is the softest kitty in the Universe. And she loves me !

Our beautiful Rose of Sharon plant is in full bloom.

My sweet hubby ordered me this very cool microwave flower press that my friend Colleen introduced me to…

so now I can preserve some of the beauty and add it into my art work !

The orders for 37 Days Rock My World rocks have been amazingly abundant ! It is a little overwhelming, in fact. I never thought it would get quite this big ! I have received orders for about 100 bags of rocks so far !

But I have a great team of people that are going to help me reach my goal to help out with the financial challenges that John and Patti are facing. My husband David is just amazing and is working as hard as I am to get this heart work done ! Thank you so much, my Hunny Bunny.

Back Deck Transformation Post !

You may remember yesterday’s pics of the back deck with the new gazebo and second hand furniture…

Well,  after 4 hours of scrounging through the dregs of the summer sales sections of 5 different stores for bargain cushions that fit and looked good,

plus a lot of repurposing of pillows and accessories from around the house,

not to mention quite a bit of elbow grease and sweat used to put it all together on a very hot July afternoon,

we have this !

Tada !!!!

Ironically, after all that hard work yesterday, the Queen was too exhausted and way, way too hot to sit out there and enjoy the fruits of her labor when the temps were in the 80s and very humid all evening.

She retired to the ac indoors after her work was done and after she got some “atta girls” from her sweet Hubby.

But this morning, after a thunderstorm rolled through and cooled things down a bit, and before the heat of the afternoon find her,

you will find one happy and satisfied Queen

holding court in the Summer Room.
