Haiku My Heart – My Home and Native Land

morningporchint

(Lac Bibitte, Quebec on a summer’s morning. My favorite piece of Canadian soil and one my sisters and I are blessed enough to be owners of, thanks to my Dad.)

My roots are planted

forever in that dear land.

Canada is home.

Happy Canada Day!

For a very long time, I felt the same way about New Mexico. I felt like I had left my soul behind when we moved to Texas some 20+ years ago. I was wrong, I was just finding it!

You are lucky to have such a wonderful spot to fill your heart.

Wonderful!! I was in Canada Thursday riding my motorcycle. Have you seen THIS?
It's my favorite. My blog will have a story about why I went to Canada on Monday.
In the meantime, your haiku pays a great tribute to a great country, made great by thinking people like you, just like other countries of the world.

Peace

What a beautiful picture and haiku! I'm mostly Canadian French, but was born in Pontiac, Michigan. Why couldn't my grandparents have stayed in Montreal?

It must be beautiful there.

And William and Kate were there to help Canada celebrate! Congrats to our northern neighbor!
I love this peaceful lake--what a treasure for your sisters and you!

The power of place! Each of us in our respective countries love our land that we call home. Like you love Canada, I love the U.S.A.--although I get a little discouraged with our politics sometimes. Love your photo. My son's dock in Pt. Angeles, WA looks a lot like yours.

Hello Kim, my grandparents were born in Notre Dame des bois! My relatives continue to speak french (well half english/half french) LOL! I spoke french before I spoke english.....warm smiles, Sam
