Balance

 

This is what my spirit gathered for this morning's meditation altar.

 

Feathers.

 

Black unknown,

 precious owl from my friend Kim,

and woodpecker from the yard at my old house in New Hampshire.

 

Feathers are "like sensitive wands that can be used to gather the finest impression of vibrations around or within the body". (from a blog called accessingyourhigherself)

 

Feather help you gather energy and also project thoughts and intentions. They show you the path to inner flight.

 

Unencumbered by limiting beliefs, you can float or soar and become part of the Greater energy.

 

 

Crystals.

 

Smoky Quartz.

 

Grounding properties. Absorbs and transmutes negative energy. 

Heals mind and body, relieves pain.

Clears emotional and mental blockages. Creates balance.

 

Obsidian.

 

Root Chakra. Grounding stone. Clears negative energy and harmful emotions.

 

 

Looks like I am well grounded yet ready for the inner flights to new, heart centered ways of being.

 

Balance, baby !

Pink Moon Afterglow Mandala

 

 

 

I visited my dear friend Midge the day of the pink full moon. Her beautiful flashy pink bougainvillea was blooming and I just had to bring a could of sprigs home with me. 

This morning, a lot of the flowers were falling off the little branches. I guess they didn't like the two hour drive from Cocoa Beach wrapped in a wet napkin. They became perfect bits for a mandala though! 

Something so meditative about fitting the pieces together this way.

Grateful for flashy pink blooms, friends and their awesome gifts, and my creative spirit that finds such beautiful ways to express itself.

I am grateful for the medicine of the ocean.

 I am grateful for the love and laughter I share with friends. 

I am grateful for my ability to see and appreciate the abundant beauty in my world.

Ants...

 I have issues.

 

With ants.

 

Teeny tiny ones. They invade my studio every few months. They drive me nuts when I see them running all over my workspace. They give me the heebie-geebies! 

 

This morning,  which began first thing as a vulnerable, raw emotion day, when I sat down at my table to try and meditate some brain monkeys away, and found the ants crawling, I lost it for a little while and started squishing every ant I saw. There were maybe a dozen in and under my stuff on the desk.

 

Then this big wave of horror hit me.

 

I thought of Syria, and those people killed by chemical gas.

 

They were just making their way through their everyday life, and this gross huge force from above came and ended it all. And killed their babies too.  

Suddenly, I was sobbing.

 

 I felt like the action I took killing those ants was just like whoever sent that gas into the atmosphere in Syria. I cried for that helpless, horrific, inhuman event and for the dear souls that lived and died through it.

 

How can I not cry?

 

 We are one world. One heart. 

I'm not going to let myself get stuck in the horrors or the pain.

 

But I am going to feel them and acknowledge them.

 That is honoring this human experience we are all here to share.

 

Experiencing my grief,

I'll get back to my real work.

 

A little more scarred,

 

but ever more sure,

 

 that Love is the answer. ❤

And then there were four...Meet Maybe.

Meet Maybe.

Maybe is curious and open to change, but has a hard time getting off the fence and making a decision.

She's definitely a Libra. She is most comfortable sitting beneath a tree, or at the beach, pondering...

She's always around when you need some deep seated thinking.

And then there were four.

The balancing act continued...

The filling up of my hand made journal continues.

My friend Fonda gave it to me and I find its size and variety of paper pages very inspiring! Thanks, lovely one!

Today's two page spread is split by another inserted page. 

This being is on the first page. 

Something about a balancing act is playing out...

And it continues on the second page. 

Kind of reflects my quest for balance these days. 

Hormones are a huge challenge, as this perimenopause/menopause transition takes place. I keep taking deep breaths, trying different remedies, telling myself I'm not really crazy, and getting lots of support from my women friends who have been through it before me. 

This too shall pass. 😉

And on the other side of the coin, life is pretty good right now. Soaking up the sweet moments of joy wherever I can.

Meet Maso

Here is the latest of the poppets I have created. 

I learned the technique from Kecia Deveney and have fallen in love with allowing these new characters come into being.

This is my new friend with his face painted.

And here is the complete persona, Maso.

Maso is kind of a little demon. (See his horns?) 

He is that part of us that does naughty, slightly mean things every once in a while, but spends time regretting and feeling guilty about his actions later.

 You know, like when you take that parking place even though you see the other car coming because, hell, you're in a hurry too today! Or like when you don't tell your waitress that she forgot to charge you for your second drink. She was kind of slow after all.

Maso doesn't always do what's right. But like all of us on this chaotic, bittersweet, bumpy road we call life, 

he's trying hard to improve, and live the best little well lived life he can. 

Maso joined my other poppets on the shelf in the studio. 

I'm starting to imagine their adventures when the house is dark and I am sleeping  away in my night sweat drenched bed.

Contemplating My 2016 Word of the Year

I’m still thinking on what word I would like to focus on for 2016.

I didn’t do that practice for 2015 and I missed it.

I think I will combine the practice of letting go of 2015

by throwing a rock in the ocean inscribed with what I need to let go of,

and picking up a new rock

and inscribing it with what I would like to see more of in 2016.

 

 

I know where I will be keeping my intention Word of the Year Rock!

I used to have these sweet little porcelain boxes that I customized every year and offered in my etsy shop,

but the supply has run out.

So I came up with these sweet little stitched pouches and an amulet pouch necklace as a replacement.
 

The pouches can lie on your inspiration altar or by your vision boards and hold your Word of the Year intention beautifully.

 

My preference is the amulet pouch necklace,

and let your Word of the Year intention stay close to your heart at all times.

Rock My World - “Notice.” – December 10, 2015

Rock My World rock wisdom for these days when chaos and fear threaten our well-being :

 

Notice.

 

Notice the sensation of the wind on your face.

Notice the way the sunlight enters between the slats of your bedroom blinds.

Notice the way some of your dog’s whiskers point upwards like a Salvador Dali moustache.

Notice the way your in breaths are cool on your nostrils, while your out breaths are warm.

And as you notice,

come back to this moment.

This is the one moment that we have for sure.

What peace, comfort and healing can be

in

one moment

of

noticing.
